Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Psalm 99. Psalm 99 is entitled "Praise to the Lord for His Holiness." It is the last of the Royal Psalms, beginning with Psalm 93. It is also an anonymous psalm. Friends, Psalms 93-99 are all beautiful psalms, and don't receive the credit that they deserve. After reading this psalm, I will break the psalm down into three parts: Verses 1-3, verses 4 & 5; and verses 6-9. Verses 1-3 remind us that the Lord reigns. The temple of Jerusalem was built as a dwelling place for God. He was to live among His people. Verse 3 ends with the concept that He is holy - indeed He is. Verses 4 & 5 remind us that God is a god of justice, and that He is righteous. Verse 5 also ends with the reminder that He is holy. Verses 6-9 remind us that Moses, Aaron, and Samuel all worshipped God. Friends, we should worship God today as well. The three takeaways from this psalm that I will leave you with are these:
1. The Lord reigns; Let the peoples tremble.
2. Exalt the Lord our God, And worship at His footstool.
3. Exalt the Lord our God, And worship at His holy hill.
