642. Stan Soehlman Shares his Personal Testimony - September 17, 2024

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 17. I will then introduce you to my special guest for the day, Stan Soehlman. Stan is a member of Gulf to Lake Church in Crystal River, Florida. Stan is new to the podcast and will be part of a team of regular contributors to this podcast. Today he will share three verses pertaining to Proverb 17. He will also tell us a bit of his personal testimony growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He will also begin to discuss the ministry that the Holy Spirit has called him into - the ministry of apologetics. If this testimony speaks to you, I invite you to share it with your family and with your closest friends.

[00:00:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to Wisdom Today. My name is Bill Kelley and I'll be your host. In this podcast we will be exploring the book of Proverbs.

[00:00:21] [SPEAKER_00]: An employer. Father God, I thank you for anyone listening to this podcast today. Lord, I pray that you give everyone ears to hear and a heart to receive everything you have in store for them today.

[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I ask this in Jesus' name, amen. This is Proverbs 17, beginning in verse 1.

[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Better is a dry morsel with quietness than a house full of feasting with strife. A wise servant will rule

[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_00]: over a son who causes shame and will share an inheritance among the brothers. The refining pot is

[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_00]: for silver and the furnace for gold but the Lord casts the hearts. An evil doer gives heed to false lips, a liar

[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_00]: listens eagerly to a spiteful tongue. He who mocks the poor reproaches his maker, he who is glad at calamity

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_00]: will not go unpunished. Children's children are the crown of old men and the glory of children

[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_00]: is their father. Excellent speech is not becoming to a fool, much less lying lips to a prince.

[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_00]: A present is a precious stone in the eyes of its possessor wherever he turns he prospers.

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_00]: He who covers a transgression seats love that he who repeats a matter separate

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_00]: friends. Rebuke is more effective for a wise man than a hundred blows on a fool. An evil man

[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_00]: seeks only rebellion, therefore a cruel messenger will be sent against him. Let a man meet a bear

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_00]: robbed of her cubs rather than a fool in his folly, whoever rewards evil for good. Evil will not

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: depart from his house. The beginning of strife is like releasing water, therefore stop,

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_00]: contention before a coral starts. He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the just,

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_00]: both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord. Why is there in the hand of a fool

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_00]: the purchase price of wisdom since he has no heart for it? A friend loves at all times and a

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_00]: brother is born for adversity. A man devoid of understanding shakes hands in a pledge and becomes

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_00]: surety for his friend. He who loves transgression loves strife and he who exults his gate

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_00]: seeks destruction. He who has a deceitful heart finds no good and he who has a perverse tongue

[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_00]: falls in the evil. He who begates a scoffer does so to his sorrow and the father of a fool

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_00]: has no joy. A merry heart does good like medicine but a broken spirit dries the bones.

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_00]: A wicked man accepts a bribe behind the back to pervert the ways of justice.

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Wisdom is in the sight of him who has understanding but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_00]: A foolish son is a grief to his father and bitterness to her who bore him.

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Also to punish the righteous is not good nor to strike princes for their uprightness.

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_00]: He who has knowledge spares his words and a man of understanding is of a calm spirit.

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace, when he shuts his lips.

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_00]: He is considered perceptive. Friends I have a special treat for you today. I have Stan Solman and

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Stan is a member of Golfta Lake Church in Crystal River, Florida. I have gotten to know him pretty well.

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking forward to this relationship expanding in the years to come Stan but I believe you have

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_00]: a lot to offer and I'm going to talk a little bit more about that but we just finished reading

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Proverbs 17 and Proverbs 17 has so much wisdom in it. I'd like to find out Stan which

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_00]: were spoke to you today that you'd like to share with the audience. Well, thanks first of all

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Bill for having me on your program appreciate that and appreciate your

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_01]: just being candid by what you say and just to your spiritual knowledge that you have.

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_01]: One of the things I wanted to do, I had three verses that I would like to share out of that

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_01]: passage. The first one is verse 14 says at the beginning of strike or like letting out water.

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_01]: So quit before the corals breaks out but also back to verse 27 and 28.

[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Whoever restraints his words as knowledge and he who has a cool spirit as a man of understanding

[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_01]: and then 28 says even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise when he closes his lips.

[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_01]: He is deemed intelligent. Have you noticed now now days in our culture where people

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_01]: they, when you want to have a conversation with someone that quickly

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_01]: layers into some anger and bitterness and whether it doesn't matter what you talk about.

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_01]: The conversations just get they devolved into arguments and I was thinking like even when we would

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_01]: have normal polite conversations we would take the advice of Henry Higgins in my fairy lady just

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_01]: talked about the weather in your health but even today with climate change and anti-vaccine we

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_01]: have a issue is it's no matter what we discuss. And so as Christians when we want to get

[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_01]: about the gospel to share our faith, we're quickly shut down with this cancel culture. So how do

[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_01]: we handle it? And that is my struggle up I want to evangelize. I want to share the love of Christ

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_01]: with people but when you get shut down I'll be what how do you do it? How do you go from there?

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And I realized that God has a lot of information in his work he addresses that situation.

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_01]: James in chapter two, one of the ways that we can become restraining our words and having

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_01]: being silent, doesn't mean not to have, not to be silent but to be able to listen first

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_01]: in what James says, like be you know be quick, be quick to listen slow to speak slow to get angry.

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_00]: You know stay on I'm gonna stop you right there because I think this is something that the

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_00]: audience needs to hear and I just mentioned this on today's podcast and today is actually July 15th

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_00]: but stay on what I mentioned today on today's podcast I believe that it's not the words

[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_00]: come out of your mouth but it's the way in which you just spend those words and what I mean by that

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_00]: is I've read this thing once where it's like 90% of communication is not really based on what comes

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_00]: out of your mouth. It's your body language, it's your facial expression, it's the tone of voice. So

[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_00]: stay on you could be sitting and saying the most magnificent words of all time and if you have

[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_00]: an angry countenance in your voice you're not gonna be effective and people are gonna shut you out

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_00]: and I believe that's what this verse is telling us. Your thoughts on that. Yeah I agree or hard

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_01]: and I think right now people they do not want to be quiet to listen to the other person to

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_01]: get to their understanding of what they're coming at. We tend to have our little darts of

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_01]: information the facts we try to pound down the facts over their head. I think Paul actually in

[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Colossians chapter 4 verse 5 again ties in with what Proverbs 17 says about walking at wisdom.

[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_01]: He says in verse 5, walking wisdom towards outsiders making the best use of the time

[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_01]: let your speech always be gracious. Season with salt so that you may know how you ought to answer

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_00]: everyone. You know that's such a good point I'm gonna stop you right there because that's exactly

[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_00]: what we are talking about and the Bible tells us that we are to be the salt of the earth

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_00]: and that literally goes right with that passage we are supposed to sprinkle our conversation

[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_00]: in a different way than the rest of the world and I think that's what you're projecting. Yes

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_01]: so like to summarize I've heard one be smart to be kind in three be tactical on how to answer

[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_01]: each person and I like that because for people to come up and asking you questions there seems to be

[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_01]: already a bond between you and I or the person for them to actually approach you even in first

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Peter 3 15 says be ready for to answer for the hope the hope that you have in you to those

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_01]: pretty. Those people are actually coming up and saying well what does that hope in you? So they already

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_01]: seen a change in you there seems something that's gonna lead them to ask about that hope.

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_00]: You know Stan I'm gonna go ahead and elaborate on first Peter 3 15 we know the verse that

[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_00]: you're talking about but some of the audience may not know exactly what that means

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_00]: and Stan it goes to Revelation 12 11 which says that we overcome by the blood of the lamb

[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_00]: and the word of our testimony and friends we always need to be ready to share the testimony

[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_00]: of the goodness of God and what he has done in our life to change us because Stan once you

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_00]: become a Christian and once you fully realize the love of God it's so overwhelming that love

[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_00]: of God and most people Stan simply cannot fathom the love of that God has for each and every one

[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_01]: of us. Your thoughts on that. Well again John commands us to the for us to be

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_01]: known as Christians it's for our love for one another even in the Christian circles we're

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_01]: having division notice the church so what we need to do and because again it's going back to the

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_01]: communication to listen. As Steve Covey once said in when we were in art when I would teach

[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_01]: corporate business we would use that you know he would say see first to understand rather than be

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_01]: understood and I thought that's just that's as biblical as you can get see first to understand

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_00]: you know and I'm gonna go ahead because the first that is just come to my mind

[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Stan is John 173 and this is you know in a way a little bit of skewer verse many people don't

[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_00]: know this but what is it really to be a Christian Stan and this verse explains it all

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_00]: it says and this is eternal life that they know me God the Father and the one whom I sent

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_00]: that is God's and thus Jesus's greatest desire for us is that we grow into an intimate relationship

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_00]: with them and that is our sole purpose here on earth and most people just can't

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_00]: fathom that should be our sole purpose well I've gotta go to work I've gotta do this I've got to

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_00]: side of us and Paul says it well it says the Holy Spirit inside of us is gonna come forth

[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_00]: and people are gonna know who we are and what we stand for your thoughts on that

[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_01]: well when I went to Bible college one of the things I did like I way back in I used to say 30 years

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_01]: but more like 50 years I don't know I still hang with it at 30 years ago but it's 50 years

[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_01]: ago I went to Florida Bible college and this was when it was in Hollywood Florida and the one of

[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_01]: the things that they really owned in our house was to have a burden for souls that if we could just

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_01]: put on glasses and look at everybody and on their forehead I'm going to hell and to see people

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_01]: that way instead of all this divisive all the divisions in a different politics and all that to

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_01]: see them what and who they really are and they need to hear the gospel of Christ you know and

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_00]: and I'm gonna refer back to scripture Stan what you're saying is scriptural and this is King

[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Solomon writing in the book of Proverbs and verse chapter 11 verse 30 says and he who wins souls

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_00]: is wise and Stan that's what I predicate this entire podcast on is for people to gain

[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_00]: and acquire wisdom in their lives and dispense it out but Stan before we go on what I'd like to do

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_00]: is talk a little bit about your purpose on earth and my favorite verse right now is Romans 8 6

[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_00]: and Romans 8 6 says to be calmly minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_00]: now stay on I know that you are a man of God and that verse holds a lot of meaning to you but what

[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I'd like for you to do is express in your own words how important knowing that verse is and going

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_01]: about living your everyday life again you know to be spiritually minded is to see everything that

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_01]: way through the lands of what Jesus how Jesus saw the culture even around him so yeah let me go back

[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe I can share my testimony on that so going back I when I grew up my father was

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_01]: he was kind of a legalistic father he would kind of preach to us certain things by God but never

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_01]: sharing not knowing the gospel himself and I grew up of course we were growing up in attending

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_01]: a methods church and there I didn't know any I mean I know by God and all that I never knew

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_01]: the plan of salvation until I left house I moved Florida when I was 19 years old God had

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_01]: dropped down in Florida by myself and one of the things God used in my life was loneliness here I am

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I left family I didn't want to go back because I knew I could make it on my own and this was 1973

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_01]: during the oil embargo when oil was cut off I was mechanic by Danica and I got laid off and now

[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I had no job nobody in no friends and made a decision maybe I need to go back maybe this was too

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_01]: early in my life to be on my own I thought well I do love the beach and I went to Florida

[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_01]: about to see this was January the 4th 1974 it was a winter night school 630 in the afternoon

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean in the evening just looking at the ocean one more last time before I go back to my

[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_01]: hometown of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and then I got tap on the shoulder he was a gentleman from Florida

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_01]: by McCall which his name was Scott Orca and he gained a heaven dragon on the track it said am I going

[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_01]: ahead he says I just saw you standing here and I wanted to know if you would help me answer that

[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_01]: question do you know for sure if you were to die tonight then you would go to heaven I gave them a

[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_01]: classic example I said I hope so I saw those smile on here this is well let me ask you this

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_01]: inside of this track is a list of things that you people think they have to do of course one

[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_01]: was obeyed it can't attend to maim it's go to church be good at all that all the works and I think

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe four of them I thought I needed to do and then he graciously told me said stand I used to

[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_01]: believe that as well until I found out this is what the Bible says and then you opens up the Bible

[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_01]: he shows me John 3 16 and I'm very I'm sure a lot of people are familiar with that

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_01]: progressive love the world that he gave us only they got in the sun that knew so ever believes in him

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_01]: we're not perish but have everlasting life and then he showed me if he's just too ignite

[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_01]: for by grace or you say through faith and that not of yourself it's not of works

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_01]: less you both and I'm thinking okay and then the one he had explained that with me that he

[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_01]: even say something like you know and he used to one time an archery term you know to be with God

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_01]: he mentioned about in Revelation where there is nothing that defiles heavens a perfect place and

[00:18:28] [SPEAKER_01]: we're imperfect people we need the righteousness of God to be with God and I don't have that righteousness

[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_01]: and I came to realize I'm a sinner I'm in detrabble pieces what we are he says but you know

[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_01]: what the gospel means good news let me show you what the good news is and he explained those verses

[00:18:45] [SPEAKER_01]: to me but the one that really stuck with me that I actually trusted was first John 5 13 these things

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I've written unto you that if you believe on the name and that means Joshua that Jesus the name

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_01]: that saves you may insist as to say hope guess or think you have eternal life he says no it says

[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_01]: that you may know and that works stuck out and that might be prayed and I knew that I was saved I'm

[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_01]: going to have and he actually had some follow up questions about that you know I'm going to stop

[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_00]: you right there because there are some people who still stay on or on the fence they never have yet

[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_00]: taken that step to receive Jesus as a Lord and Savior they don't even know if God exists so you

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_00]: have just brought a John 3 16 and what's the other verse you just brought first John 5 13

[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Ephesians 3 9 and 2 8 9 and friends the Bible tells us that whenever you have two

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_00]: witnesses that you can stand on that but I'm going to give you two more verses and Paul got this

[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_00]: in his letter to the Romans in chapter 10 in verses 9 and 10 it says that if you confess with your

[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_00]: mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead you will be saved

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_00]: and this is what you were talking about earlier does it say you hope and says no you will there's

[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_00]: assurance in that you know you have that your thoughts on that well again the word believed sometimes

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_01]: people wrestle with just the word and and and faith sometimes they take the word faith and

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_01]: usually put modifiers like blind faith or but going back to word believe the actual word means

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_01]: to trust like I can believe for example if I'm on an airplane I know about the airplane and

[00:20:50] [SPEAKER_01]: know how works I can Google some of the facts about the history of the aircraft I can maybe

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Google the pilot to see you know check his experience but that's just believing about that airplane

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_01]: but when I stood foot and I started sitting in a chair and they start closing the door

[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and then they take off now that believes about the airplane I'm believing in that airplane

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_01]: and that pilot that's that's the faith that God wants he wants that act to trust that

[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Jesus and Jesus only will save you well you know I'm gonna go to the book of Hebrews

[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_00]: and go to the great faith chapter chapter 11 verse 6 and it says that God you have to have faith

[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_00]: in order for God basically to be pleased with you without faith it is impossible to please God

[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and friends if you want to really change your life and if you want to try to please God

[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_00]: it's faith that is the component you simply have to have and once again Paul in this letter to

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_00]: the Romans I mean to probably that says best book probably it's based on grace I call it the

[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_00]: faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God and say I know we're talking about you

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_00]: know people reading the Bible people not reading the Bible and we were discussing this prior to

[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_00]: coming on today but stay and I believe a lot of people don't read the Bible because they're

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_00]: simply intimidated by their sheer size of it but friends if we ever want to have faith the only way

[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_00]: we're going to increase our faith is either to hear the Word of God or actually open the

[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_00]: scriptures ourselves and actually dig in and that is how you're gonna just explode in your faith

[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_00]: now stand one of the reasons I ask you to come on and I'm gonna mention this because I mentioned it

[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_00]: a little while ago but I'm now in a new season of this podcast and most of the people that have

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_00]: been on this podcast you know they've all been wonderful and yet some of the people kind of

[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_00]: stick out they're just a little bit better now stand you've never been on this podcast before so

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_00]: you know I feel that I'm believing that God placed you in my life for such a time as this and we're

[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_00]: going to ask their chapter four verse 14 we are born for such a time as this and I believe this

[00:23:43] [SPEAKER_00]: podcast is even gonna get more exposure because of the people that I'm going to be bringing in

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_00]: and asking to come back on but I'm looking for people who have something different and special

[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_00]: to offer that other people on the podcast do not have so stand you happen to excel and God has

[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_00]: called you to the ministry of apologetics now I don't want to get into too much detail because

[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_00]: that is over the head of most people listening to this podcast today but what I'd like to do

[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_00]: stand is if you would just briefly explain what apologetics is and why did God call you to that

[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_01]: specific ministry yeah and I agree with you I find people that when you even mentioned a word

[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_01]: sometimes they ask you well what does it mean? are you sorry for something you're learning to be

[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_01]: sorry it's not actually it's a great word it comes from first Peter 315 it's the word where we

[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_01]: are we are supposed to give it to the fans it's actually a courtroom term but the approach I have

[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_01]: by guessing caught soft apologetics I found that when people when they have questions about the

[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Bible or if they have maybe questions back contradictions in the Bible or about God you don't approach

[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_01]: with just giving them facts and a lot of times I found out using a conversational technique

[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_01]: and in my class that I teach at church we kind of used the it's going back to the old

[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_01]: sixties TV show Columbo I like Columbo because what he did when he was going about he always asked

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_01]: questions and he always ended it approached like something like he would say something's bothering

[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_01]: about what you said I could you help explain a little bit further what that what you're saying

[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_01]: and so I found out is that if we can just have conversations with people and how do to that

[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_01]: is by just asking questions and usually when people make assertions or something that they maybe

[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_01]: they disagree with you on I'm just looking back and I would ask him I would start with a question

[00:26:02] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe in the very first question is like for example somebody said looks down I don't believe in

[00:26:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Bible I believe in science I believe science has all the answers out there and then I would ask

[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_01]: a question well okay what's your definition of science what in they're going to you know they

[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_01]: will say well it's a search for causes we need to go off cause and effect it said okay

[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_01]: and then my next question am I asked well what testable evidence do you have to say that to me

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_01]: some philosophical statement what testable evidence do you have that says science is the only

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_01]: way to prove so what I'm using our questions I could people say well I believe in evolution well

[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_01]: what do you mean by evolution see what I'm doing I'm I might not know anything about all

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_01]: evolution or whatever but but just asking no questions I want them to clarify what they say because

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_01]: there's so many things up there so much rhetoric so many means on Facebook and Instagram and people

[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_01]: just repeat these things these slogans and their vaguest slogans they have no impact no meaning

[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_01]: so you want to bring out the conversation and you come across like an inquisitive

[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Commemble what do you mean by that if there's you know they'll say well I have evolution

[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_01]: and you know I they'll give the answer maybe it's because like the fidges have long beaks in

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_01]: this brain or like in the famine then they have short beaks I said oh yeah that's true I believe

[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_01]: that I believe in that that's called micro evolution but what about a phinch becoming a dog has

[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_01]: that ever occurred and these you know that's what I try to bring out is by just using questions

[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_01]: and if people can just know the art of asking questions and that's what I teach in this book how

[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I got into the politics one thing I love about the Bible College that we attended my

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_01]: plan is there like again their emphasis on the burden for soul but they taught us how to have

[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_01]: how to present the gospel a lot of people just don't know how to present the gospel to somebody

[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_01]: and you start out with the Romans wrote you start out with Romans 3 for all have sin

[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_01]: come short of the glory of God and then you go well the wages of Romans 623 the wages of

[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_01]: a guitar like and you go through that in Romans 10 and you just go down to Romans wrote but just

[00:28:24] [SPEAKER_01]: to be able to present the gospel to somebody and to learn how to do that and if you do present

[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_01]: the gospel believe me you will get some pushback you're going to get some questions and this is

[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_01]: what forced me to come into to have more of a defense you know I this is a good stopping point

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_00]: you know we are at almost 29 minutes and what I do wanted to bring up is first John 4 17

[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_00]: one of my most you know power reverses in the Bible actually but it says as he is meaning

[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Jesus so are we in this world and I kind of wanted to clarify a point stay on that you just brought

[00:29:09] [SPEAKER_00]: in how we present the Bible and I think the first question we always need to ask ourselves is what

[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_00]: would Jesus do so if we are Jesus which this first is telling us that we're actually literally

[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_00]: to be a representative of Jesus it's like we are Jesus himself on earth well I believe

[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_00]: this goes back to we talked about at the very beginning of this podcast is we need to have a smile

[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_00]: on our face we need to be welcoming we need to want and attract people by the expression

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_00]: on our face if you have a scow on your face people are going to run and hide like hot

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_00]: approaches we don't want that we have to demonstrate the love of God stay on in all we do so this is

[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_00]: what I'm going to ask you to do stand I know you're new to this podcast I know people do not

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_00]: know you that well but I believe they're going to get to know you and that excites me so what

[00:30:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I'd like for you to do is just share quickly I'm going to give you two minutes talk about the

[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_00]: love of God and how God has changed your life and how people listening today need to receive

[00:30:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Jesus today. The love of God is just for me it's been displayed every day every time I

[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_01]: have a situation arises and even sometimes things that I might not even understand I know

[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_01]: that it's for his purpose and his will in my life and the opportunities that I have I know like

[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_01]: every person that I get involved with every person that I meet I know there's a reason before that

[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_01]: and the people that I have already spoken with the ones I witness it was it's just nice to see

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_01]: it's I mean it's just wonderful to see how God has worked with their lives and to get

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_01]: this to get some feedback from them I've seen the love of God when we were missionaries in Japan

[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_01]: working on back in in the 80s where we had opportunities to speak and just to be able to talk with them

[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_01]: and actually in their language we were learning to Japanese language and to see their eyes opening up

[00:31:30] [SPEAKER_01]: in a in a culture that is in Buddhism and the chintoism you can just see the difference in their eyes

[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and it just reflects back on me his love. I know he's guiding me every day and I know that

[00:31:47] [SPEAKER_01]: the opportunities there and I'm at the point now that even the bad things happen to me God is good

[00:31:55] [SPEAKER_01]: he loves me and I know there's a reason and his purpose in my life for that. That's so good

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_00]: so Stan what I would like for you to do and this will be the last question for the day is if you would

[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_00]: for anyone still on the fence needing to make that step leap in off the diving board and receive

[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Jesus lead them in a prayer please. Okay father list this again I just thank you for who you are

[00:32:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I thank you for your son I don't across for us that we can have eternal life. Father we know that you love

[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_01]: you love us and you love and you're really that all can become a belief in Father we're praying for

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_01]: those right now that's listening to this podcast too I pray that you open their hearts open their eyes

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_01]: let them see the love of Christ that no matter how bad they think they are there is no sin

[00:32:57] [SPEAKER_01]: that will keep out from God's love for them just I just pray that right now for that person

[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_01]: that's listening to this podcast speak to their heart right now Father I know I'm a sinner

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I know that you love me he died for me this is the first time it didn't make sense but now

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I know that it's not from what I do for you but what you already done for me Father I know

[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_01]: place my trust my faith in you and accept you as my Lord and personal Savior and this is the

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_01]: prayer that I hope that if there's anyone out there we'll go out and and Lord I know that you have

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_01]: the control over this podcast you have you you have the control over those who will here for those

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_01]: it will maybe by mistake by chance they're going through the podcast and they end up thinking this one

[00:33:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I pray for those people right now and we ask us all in our Savior's name Jesus thank you

[00:33:56] [SPEAKER_00]: all right Stan well thank you so much and you know what I would like to point out to the audience is that

[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Stan this is simply the first step that someone needs to take if you repeated that prayer you are now

[00:34:10] [SPEAKER_00]: a bona fide member of the family of God so I'd like to congratulate you but let you know that this

[00:34:18] [SPEAKER_00]: is only the first step what you need to do now search online for churches in your area and what you

[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_00]: need to do is find a church that you believe will feed you and I would definitely propose that you

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_00]: do one that speaks directly out of the Bible that it's a God-fearing church and that you get along

[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_00]: with the people in that church and in Hebrews it tells us that we are not to forsake the assembling

[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_00]: of the masses. Friends it's important that now that you've taken this step that you need to surround

[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_00]: yourself with people who are like-minded believe in God, have received Jesus and can encourage you

[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_00]: when you slip and fall people that you can seek and have guidance with so I'm going to go ahead and

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_00]: with a blessing now may the Lord bless you and keep you the Lord make us stay shine upon you and be

[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_00]: gracious to you. The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. Friends please join me
