Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Psalm 87. Psalm 87 is known as a psalm of Zion - a reminder of God's love for the precious city of Jerusalem. It is attributed to the sons of Korah. God told King Solomon to build a temple in the city of Jerusalem so He could come and dwell among His people. After reading this short psalm I will break this psalm down into three parts. Verses 1-3 reminds us of the love God has for this city. Verses 4-6 inform us that people come from all over the world to dwell in Jerusalem. Many people are drawn to the cradle of Christianity. Verses 7 closes with the promise of the salvation that only comes from receiving Jesus into your heart by saying the sinner's prayer.
