Lessons From the Psalms - Psalm 83

Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. On today's podcast we will be going over Psalm 83. Psalm 83 is the last of Asaph's psalms. It is titled "Prayer to Frustrate Conspiracy Against Israel." In this psalm Asaph asks God how long He will allow the enemies of God to prevail? Verses 5-8 describe the fact that many of the former enemies of Israel had banded together to actually dissolve the country of Israel. Sounds a bit like our world today! In verses 9-12 Asaph reminds God of the victories that He has had in the past over enemies of Israel. In verses 13-17 Asaph actually places a "curse" upon the enemies of Israel - hoping that one day they will come to their senses and worship God themselves. We close with verse 18 - when Asaph acknowledges that God is the Most High over all the Earth.
