Lessons From the Psalms - Psalm 81

Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. On today's podcast we will be going over Psalm 81. Psalm 81 is attributed to the song writer Asaph. It was actually written to the chief musician and was to be played with an instrument of Gath. Psalm 81 begins as a psalm of praise, but ends as a psalm of admonition. After reading this psalm I will break it down verse by verse. By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:
1. Make a joyful shout to the God of Jacob.
2. Hear, O My people, and I will admonish you.
3. I would soon subdue their enemies.
Friends, we are to continually have the desire to praise God - regardless of what is happening in your life. The second point declares that God watches all that we do, and if there is something happening in your life that you should not be doing, he will chastise you, and let you know. Finally, God will help us overcome whatever is going on in our lives - even with those people who are making life difficult for us.
