Lessons From the Psalms - Psalm 66

Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Psalm 66. Psalm 66 is a wonderful psalm and is sure to make everyone's heart warm. This is an anonymous psalm - although it does sound very similar to what King David would have written. Verses 1-3 tell us that we should be ready to praise God at all times. Verse 4 is a prophetic verse informing us that there will be a day when the entire earth will worship him. Verse 6 reminds us of what God did for the Israelites when they were being pursued by the Egyptian army at the Red Sea. He parted the Sea which allowed the Israelites to walk on the sea bed before God sent the waves crashing down on the Egyptian army. Verses 10 & 11 tells us that when we go off the path that God has for us that He will chastise us and suggest we get back on the right path. Verse 13-15 suggest that we bring our tithes to God and bring sacrifices to Him. Verse 16 suggests that we share will all people what God has done for us in our lives. Verses 19 & 20 assure us that God wants us to pray to Him, and that, if we do, He will hear us and answer our prayers. Finally, He promises to have mercy on us! Hallelujuh!
