Lessons From the Psalms - Psalm 43

Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. Today we will be looking at Psalm 43. According to the commentary in my Bible (the Nelson Study Bible) Psalm 43 is a continuation from Psalm 42. Actually they originally were one psalm. I will read this short psalm and then break down each verse. The author of this psalm is pleading his innocence in verse one - and believes that he has done nothing wrong. Yet, in verse 2 the implication is that he is feeling far away from God, and inviting Him to come back into his heart. Verse 3 is a great example for us today - that if we have a need in our life, that we turn to scripture. Verse 4 tells us that we should praise God. We can do that will our voice, or with an instrument which we may play. Verse 5 is the refrain which we find twice in Psalm 42. This verse reminds us that we need to keep believing in God - regardless of what is presently going on in our lives.
