Lessons From the Psalms - Psalm 146

Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Psalm 146. Psalm 146 is an anonymous psalm . The author encourages us to Praise the Lord (as the psalm opens and closes with this particular exhortation). After reading this psalm I will break down each of the 10 verses. By the end of this psalm there are three takeaways that I encourage everyone to consider:
1. I will praise the Lord as long as I live (friends, we have the choice as to whether or not we do this - I choose to do it).
2. Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation (friends Proverbs 29:25 tells us that the fear of man brings a snare; but those that trust in the Lord shall be safe). Man will always let us down (yes - even our spouses, children, parents, and best friends). Only in Jesus can we truly put our trust.
3. The Lord will reign forever, your God, O Zion, to all generations. (God is the creator of the universe and everything that we can see with our physical eyes. Why not put your trust in Him (and Him alone)?
I will close with Acts 4:12 - And there is salvation in no one else, for there is not other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved). Jesus is the only way to ensure that all of your sins will be forgiven, and that you are secure in the knowledge that you will with Him in heaven forever.
