Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. On today's podcast we will be going over Psalm 115. Psalm 115 is an anonymous psalm and is a psalm that we can learn a number of lessons from. After reading the entire psalm I will break the psalm down. The first three verses tell us not to praise ourselves, but to praise God. This goes hand in hand with Proverb 27:2 - Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; A stranger and not your own lips. Verses 4-8 talk about the uselessness of having idols in your life. Verses 9-11 tell us the benefits of putting our trust in God. Verses 12 & 13 remind us that if we put our trust in God that we will be blessed. My three takeaways from this psalm are:
1. We should not put our faith (or trust) in idols.
2. You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield.
3. He will bless those who fear the Lord, both great and small.
