406. Job - Chapter #3 - God Has a Plan for You - October 23, 2023

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 23. I will then key in on verse 29 - Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Friends, this I referring to people who have been drinking heavily - but there is a man who also felt like this. His name was Job. In Chapters 1 & 2, he has lost his material possessions, his 10 kids and his health. He felt like the world was closing in on him - and yet he never cursed God. Yet, he does curse the day of his birth. We see that in the 3rd chapter. I will read the entire chapter and then make three statements:
1. Job cursed the day of his birth - friends, we all have days when it seems that anything that can go wrong does go wrong. We then ask why we have days like this? There is no clear cut answer, except to say that we live in a "fallen world" and there is simply evil all around us.
2. God has a plan for each of us - I want to encourage everyone listening to this podcast today. I want to encourage you by reading Jeremiah, Chapter 29, and reading verses 11-13. God has a plan for each of us. He wants us to be well; He doesn't want any harm to come to us. We need to put our trust in God, and God alone.
3. If you are depressed, or feel down and out, do NOT turn to drugs or alcohol. That is never the answer and will not solve your problems - I review verses 29-33 of Proverb 23 - which talk of the dangers of Turing to these drugs.
Call to Action - Ask God if you are depressed, or down and out about anything at all going on in your life. If there is, ask Him to intervene and give you a solution to the situation. I believe He will hear your prayer and give you an answer.
