Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 1. I will break down this foundational chapter of Proverbs - as this chapter sets the stage for the other 30 chapters which follow. The Beginning of Knowledge (verses 1-7) boils down to verse 7 - The fear of the Lord is the Beginning of knowledge. If we do not fear God, the odds are you are relying on yourself to make all your decisions. You are placing yourself on a pedestal, and need to humble yourself. Shun Evil Counsel (verses 8-19) - Friends, it is crucial to only seek advice from people that you have built an admiration for by watching how they live their lives and conduct themselves. You admire them because it seems like life is easy for them, and things simply go "right" for them almost all the time. The Call to Wisdom (verses 20-33) - Wisdom is calling out to each of us today - and every day of our lives. Listen to that call. Get into the word of God and be willing to open your mind to the life God has called each of us to live. I close by reading Chapter 55 of the Prophet Isaiah. He invites us to live the abundant life Jesus mentions in the Book of John (Chapter 10: verse 10). Enjoy!
