Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 11. I will then read verses 1-5 in their entirety. After reading these verses I will go to 1 Peter Chapter 5, verses 5-9. Friends, we do have an adversary. We know him as the devil. He's very real and he will do all he can to destroy our lives. Verse 5 tells children to submit ourselves to our parents, or people who are older than we are (teachers, youth leaders, etc.). But, it tells the rest of us that we should submit ourselves one to another. Friends, if we go through life without friends, or counselors, we can fall when temptation comes our way. Peter then tells us that God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Friends, pride is our enemy. We should do all we can to avoid living a life full of pride. Verse 8 tells us about the devil, and that he is seeking whom he may devour. If we are submitted to God, and His Lordship in our lives, we can resist him. If we are not, he is crafty and can lure us into temptation. He will come in different disguises and can easily seduce us. I will then go back and revisit verses 1-5 of Proverb 7. Call to action: If any of you are married, and your marriage is not currently going the way you would like for it to be going, seek God in prayer. Do not allow yourself to be tempted by someone of the opposite sex. Do not allow yourself to go there. Suggested scripture reading - Reread the entire chapter of Proverb 7.
