320. The Parables of the Hidden Treasure and of the Pearl of Great Price

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 23. I will then key in on verses 4-5 - Do not overwork to be rich; Because of your own understanding, cease! Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven. Friends, in proverbs, on a number of occasions, it tells us that we are not to be lazy. These two verses tell us that we are not to go to the other extreme and not to work to become rich, either. There may be a number of people listening today that have gotten into a habit of working 50, 55, or 60 hours a week. If that is you consider this statement - it may be better to forgo a few things that you WANT to have in order to keep the people in your life. Friends, we may one day lost everything that we have (either by a hurricane, a tornado, an earthquake, or what have you. You can always obtain new "things", but you can't obtain new people. The people in our lives are more important than any material things that we can obtain. Today we will look at two proverbs found in Matthew's gospel which discuss the importance of the Kingdom of God. Enjoy!
