Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 2. I will then key in on verses 5 & 6. Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. This proverb goes over the main theme of the entire book of proverbs - in that if you fear the Lord your God you will have good success in life, and if you do not fear the Lord, you basically will have many hardships in life. I will then introduce the audience to the Book of Ruth and give the back ground of a woman named Naomi. I will then begin reading in Ruth, Chapter 1, verses 6-22. We will find out that Ruth has the choice to go back to her former country of Moab and return to her former gods. She realizes that she loves Naomi and wants to follow her and live with her. 2. Ruth has an encounter with the real God. Naomi has a fear of the God of Israel and introduces Ruth to that God. Even though she is no longer living in the country of Israel, Naomi still serves and worships her god. Ruth realizes that this God has much more to offer than the pagan gods that she had served as a child. 3. If you follow God, He will reward you. By following Naomi back to the land of Judah, and beginning to serve the God of Israel, God has favor on Ruth and she is introduced to a man names Boaz. Over the course of the next three chapters, they meet, get to know one another, and fall in love. She ends up marrying Boaz, have a son named Obed - who later has a son named Jesse - who later has a son named David. So Ruth and Boaz are in the lineage of David and Ruth ends up being blessed!
