[00:00:00] Welcome to the reading of the King James Bible.

[00:00:03] Hello, my name is Bill Kelley and I will be your host.

[00:00:08] This is a reading from the prophet Jeremiah.

[00:00:11] This is Chapter 23.

[00:00:14] Woe be under the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture.

[00:00:21] Sayeth the Lord.

[00:00:23] Therefore, the saith the Lord God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people.

[00:00:31] Yee have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not visited them.

[00:00:38] Behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings.

[00:00:44] Sayeth the Lord.

[00:00:46] And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries, wither I have driven them

[00:00:54] and will bring them again to their folds.

[00:00:58] And they shall be fruitful and increase.

[00:01:02] And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them.

[00:01:07] And they shall fear no more nor be dismayed.

[00:01:12] Neither shall they be lacking.

[00:01:15] Sayeth the Lord.

[00:01:17] Behold, the days come, sayeth the Lord, that I will raise unda David a righteous branch

[00:01:26] and a king shall reign and prosper.

[00:01:29] And shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.

[00:01:35] In his days, Judah shall be saved.

[00:01:38] And Israel shall dwell safely.

[00:01:41] And this is his name whereby he shall be called the Lord our righteousness.

[00:01:49] Therefore, behold, the days come, sayeth the Lord, that they shall no more say the Lord

[00:01:58] liveeth which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.

[00:02:05] But the Lord liveeth which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel

[00:02:13] out of the North country.

[00:02:16] And from all countries, wither I had driven them and they shall dwell in their own land.

[00:02:25] Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets.

[00:02:31] All my bones shake.

[00:02:33] I am like a drunken man and like a man whom wine half overcome because of the Lord.

[00:02:43] And because of the words of his holiness, for the land is full of adulterers.

[00:02:51] For because of swearing, the land mourneth, the pleasant places of the wilderness are

[00:02:58] dried up and their course is evil and their force is not right.

[00:03:05] For both prophet and priest are profane, yay in my house have I found their wickedness,

[00:03:14] saith the Lord.

[00:03:17] Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness.

[00:03:25] They shall be driven on and fall their in for I will bring evil upon them even the year of

[00:03:35] their visitation.

[00:03:36] saith the Lord.

[00:03:38] And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria, they prophesied in veil and caused

[00:03:47] my people Israel to air.

[00:03:50] I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem and horrible thing, they commit adultery

[00:03:58] and walk in lies.

[00:04:01] They strengthen also the hands of evil doers that none goth return from his wickedness.

[00:04:10] They are all of them unto me as sottam and the inhabitants their of as Gomorrah.

[00:04:19] Therefore the saith the Lord of hosts concerning the prophets.

[00:04:26] Behold I will feed them with warm wood and make them drink the water of gall, for from

[00:04:35] the prophets of Jerusalem is profane-ness gone forth into all the land.

[00:04:43] Thus saith the Lord of hosts, harken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesied

[00:04:52] unto you.

[00:04:53] They make you vain, they speak a vision of their own heart and not out of the mouth

[00:05:01] of the Lord.

[00:05:03] They say still unto them that despise me, the Lord had said ye shall have peace, and

[00:05:12] they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, no evil shall

[00:05:22] come upon you.

[00:05:24] For who hath stood in the council of the Lord and hath perceived and heard his word,

[00:05:33] who hath marked his word and heard it.

[00:05:37] The hold a whirlwind of the Lord is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind.

[00:05:46] It shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.

[00:05:52] The anger of the Lord shall not return until he have executed and till he have performed

[00:06:02] the thoughts of his heart.

[00:06:04] In the latter days he shall consider it perfectly.

[00:06:09] I have not sent these prophets yet they ran.

[00:06:14] I have not spoken to them yet they prophesied, but if they had stood in my council and

[00:06:24] had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their

[00:06:32] evil way and from the evil of their doings.

[00:06:37] Am I a God at hand, sayeth the Lord, and not a God afar off?

[00:06:45] Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him, sayeth the Lord?

[00:06:53] Do not I fill heaven and earth, sayeth the Lord.

[00:06:58] I have heard what the prophets said that prophesied lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed

[00:07:08] I have dreamed.

[00:07:10] How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesied lies?

[00:07:17] Yay!

[00:07:18] They are prophets of the deceit of their own heart.

[00:07:23] Each think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams, which they tell every

[00:07:30] man to his neighbor.

[00:07:33] As their fathers have forgotten my name for bail, the prophet that half a dream let

[00:07:41] him tell a dream and he that half my word let him speak my word faithfully.

[00:07:49] But is the chath to the wheat, sayeth the Lord?

[00:07:54] Is not my word like as a fire, sayeth the Lord and like a hammer that breaketh the

[00:08:03] rock in pieces.

[00:08:05] Therefore behold I am against the prophets, sayeth the Lord, that steal my words every

[00:08:14] one from his neighbor.

[00:08:17] Behold I am against the prophets, sayeth the Lord, that use their tongues and say he

[00:08:25] sayeth.

[00:08:27] Behold I am against them that prophesied false dreams, sayeth the Lord and do tell

[00:08:35] them and cause my people to air by their lies and by their lightness.

[00:08:43] But I sent them not nor commanded them.

[00:08:47] Therefore they shall not prophet this people at all, sayeth the Lord and when this people

[00:08:55] or the prophet or a priest shall ask these saying what is the burden of the Lord?

[00:09:05] Now shout then say unto them what burden?

[00:09:09] I will even forsake you, sayeth the Lord and ask for the prophet and the priest and the

[00:09:17] people that shall say the burden of the Lord.

[00:09:22] I will even punish that man and his house.

[00:09:26] Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbor and every one to his brother.

[00:09:34] But half the Lord answered and what half the Lord spoken.

[00:09:41] And the burden of the Lord shall ye mention no more, for every man's word shall be his

[00:09:47] burden, for ye have perverted the words of the living God of the Lord of hosts our God.

[00:09:57] Thus shout thou say to the prophet what half the Lord answered thee and what half the

[00:10:06] Lord spoken.

[00:10:08] But since ye say the burden of the Lord, therefore thus sayeth the Lord because ye say this

[00:10:17] word the burden of the Lord and I have sent unto you saying ye shall not say the burden

[00:10:26] of the Lord.

[00:10:28] Therefore behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you and I will forsake you and the city

[00:10:38] that I gave you and your fathers and cast you out of my presence and I will bring an everlasting

[00:10:47] reproach upon you and a perpetual shame which shall not be forgotten.
