690. The Ten Commandments - #9 - You Shall not Bear False Witness Against Your Neighbor - November 22, 2024

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 22. I will then key in on verse 16. He who oppresses the poor to increase his riches, And he who gives to the rich, will surely come to poverty. On today's podcast we will be covering the 9th Commandment. Before beginning today's lesson we will go over the entire 10 commandments - found in the Book of Exodus, Chapter 20:verses 2-17. By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

2. Haman sought to destroy all the Jews who were throughout the kingdom of Ahaseurus.

3. Let a decree be written that they be destroyed.

Call to Action - Do you ever bear false witness against people you don't like (someone at work, a friends who you have become estranged with, someone in your family)?

[00:00:06] Welcome to Wisdom Today. My name is Bill Kelley and I'll be your host. In this podcast we will be exploring the book of Proverbs.

[00:00:21] Let's open in prayer. Father God, I thank you for anyone listening to this podcast today. I pray that you would reveal to everyone listening how much you truly love each and every one of them. I ask this in Jesus name. Amen.

[00:00:38] This is Proverb 22 beginning in verse 1.

[00:00:42] A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold. The rich and the poor have this in common. The Lord is the maker of them all.

[00:00:57] A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished. By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life.

[00:01:12] Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse. He who guards his soul will be far from them. Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

[00:01:27] The rich rules over the poor and the borrower is servant to the lender. He who sows iniquity will reap sorrow, and the rod of his anger will fail.

[00:01:40] He who has a generous eye will be blessed, for he gives of his bread to the poor. Cast out the scoffer, and contention will leave. Yes, strife and reproach will cease.

[00:01:55] He who loves purity of heart, and has grace on his lips. The king will be his friend. The eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge, but he overthrows the words of the faithless.

[00:02:10] The lazy man says,

[00:02:13] There is a lion outside. I shall be slain in the streets. The mouth of an immoral woman is a deep pit. He who is abhorred by the Lord will fall there.

[00:02:26] Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child. The rod of correction will drive it far from him.

[00:02:34] He who oppresses the poor to increase his riches, and he who gives to the rich will surely come to poverty.

[00:02:43] Incline your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge.

[00:02:51] For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you. Let them all be fixed upon your lips, so that your trust may be in the Lord.

[00:03:03] I have instructed you today, even you.

[00:03:07] Have I not written to you excellent things of counsels and knowledge,

[00:03:13] that I may make you know the certainty of the words of truth,

[00:03:18] that you may answer words of truth to those who send to you?

[00:03:23] Do not rob the poor because he is poor, nor oppress the afflicted at the gate,

[00:03:30] for the Lord will plead their cause and plunder the soul of those who plunder them.

[00:03:38] Make no friendship with an angry man, and with a furious man do not go,

[00:03:45] lest you learn his ways and set a snare for your soul.

[00:03:50] Do not be one of those who shakes hands in a pledge,

[00:03:54] one of those who is surety for debts, if you have nothing with which to pay.

[00:04:01] Why should he take away your bed from under you?

[00:04:04] Do not remove the ancient landmark which your fathers have set.

[00:04:09] Do you see a man who excels in his work?

[00:04:14] He will stand before kings.

[00:04:17] He will not stand before unknown men.

[00:04:20] Friends, today I'd like to take a closer look at verse 16.

[00:04:26] And Proverbs 22, verse 16 tells us this,

[00:04:31] He who oppresses the poor to increase his riches,

[00:04:36] and he who gives to the rich will surely come to poverty.

[00:04:42] And friends, we will take a closer look at that verse prior to closing today.

[00:04:47] But what I'd like to do today is to continue in my Friday teachings of the Ten Commandments.

[00:04:56] Now, I have been in this study for a little over two months now,

[00:05:00] and today we'll be taking a closer look at the Ninth Commandment.

[00:05:05] But before we get into today's lesson,

[00:05:08] what I'd like to review is all ten of the commandments.

[00:05:13] So I'd like to go to our major text,

[00:05:16] and our major text is the book of Exodus, chapter 20,

[00:05:21] beginning in verse 2.

[00:05:24] I am the Lord your God,

[00:05:26] who brought you out of the land of Egypt,

[00:05:29] out of the house of bondage.

[00:05:32] And the Ten Commandments begin in verse 3.

[00:05:35] This is the first commandment.

[00:05:37] You shall have no other gods before me.

[00:05:41] The second commandment begins in verse 4.

[00:05:44] You shall not make for yourself a carved image,

[00:05:47] any likeness of anything that is in heaven above,

[00:05:51] or that is in the earth beneath,

[00:05:54] or that is in the water under the earth.

[00:05:57] You shall not bow down to them, nor serve them.

[00:06:01] For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God,

[00:06:05] visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children

[00:06:09] to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me,

[00:06:14] but showing mercy to thousands,

[00:06:17] to those who love me and keep my commandments.

[00:06:22] The third commandment is verse 7.

[00:06:27] You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain,

[00:06:30] for the Lord will not hold him guiltless

[00:06:34] who takes his name in vain.

[00:06:36] Commandment number 4 begins in verse 8.

[00:06:40] Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

[00:06:44] Six days you shall labor and do all your work,

[00:06:47] but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God.

[00:06:52] In it you shall do no work.

[00:06:54] You, nor your son, nor your daughter,

[00:06:58] nor your male servant, nor your female servant,

[00:07:01] nor your cattle,

[00:07:03] nor your stranger who is within your gates.

[00:07:07] For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth,

[00:07:11] the sea and all that is in them,

[00:07:14] and rested the seventh day.

[00:07:17] Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day

[00:07:21] and hallowed it.

[00:07:23] And the fifth commandment is verse 12.

[00:07:26] Honor your father and your mother,

[00:07:29] that your days may be long upon the land

[00:07:32] which the Lord your God is giving you.

[00:07:35] And friends, I have mentioned often in this particular study

[00:07:40] that if you are thinking about God and pleasing him,

[00:07:46] and if you are thinking about your neighbor and pleasing them,

[00:07:50] and if you are thinking about honoring your mother and father,

[00:07:55] then you will have no problems keeping commandments six through ten.

[00:08:01] Now commandments six through ten have to do with our flesh

[00:08:06] and our desire to do what pleases us

[00:08:10] and not God or thinking about our neighbor

[00:08:15] or trying to please our parents.

[00:08:18] So the sixth commandment is verse 13.

[00:08:21] You shall not murder.

[00:08:22] The seventh commandment in verse 14.

[00:08:26] You shall not commit adultery.

[00:08:28] The eighth commandment, verse 15.

[00:08:31] You shall not steal.

[00:08:33] And today's lesson is verse 16.

[00:08:37] You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

[00:08:40] And finally, verse 17 is the tenth commandment.

[00:08:44] You shall not covet your neighbor's house.

[00:08:47] You shall not covet your neighbor's wife

[00:08:50] nor his male servant

[00:08:52] nor his female servant

[00:08:55] nor his ox

[00:08:57] nor his donkey

[00:08:59] nor anything that is your neighbor's.

[00:09:02] So friends, today let's take a look

[00:09:06] at my first point of the day.

[00:09:08] And my first point of today's lesson

[00:09:11] is the ninth commandment

[00:09:13] in verse 16.

[00:09:15] You shall not bear false witness

[00:09:19] against your neighbor.

[00:09:21] Now friends, when I think

[00:09:22] about false witness against your neighbor,

[00:09:25] I think about slander.

[00:09:27] I think about people

[00:09:29] making up information.

[00:09:32] And it may partially be true,

[00:09:35] but the point is

[00:09:37] that you're not really

[00:09:38] considering

[00:09:39] how true

[00:09:42] something is

[00:09:43] as opposed

[00:09:45] to making sure

[00:09:47] you slander

[00:09:48] that person

[00:09:49] and

[00:09:50] make them look bad

[00:09:52] and make

[00:09:53] someone

[00:09:53] think poorly

[00:09:55] about

[00:09:56] that individual.

[00:09:57] And when I think

[00:09:59] about that,

[00:10:00] I can't help

[00:10:01] but think

[00:10:02] about the book

[00:10:03] of Esther.

[00:10:04] And there was a man

[00:10:05] named Haman.

[00:10:07] And many of you know

[00:10:09] Haman

[00:10:10] in the book

[00:10:12] of Esther.

[00:10:13] But what we're going to do

[00:10:14] is I'm going to read

[00:10:16] the entire

[00:10:16] third

[00:10:17] chapter

[00:10:18] of

[00:10:19] Esther.

[00:10:20] And this entire

[00:10:21] passage

[00:10:22] of scripture

[00:10:23] is entitled

[00:10:24] Haman's

[00:10:25] Conspiracy

[00:10:26] Against

[00:10:27] the Jews.

[00:10:29] Let's begin

[00:10:30] in verse 1.

[00:10:31] After these things

[00:10:33] King Ahasuerus

[00:10:35] promoted

[00:10:36] Haman,

[00:10:37] the son

[00:10:38] of Hamadatha

[00:10:39] the Agagite,

[00:10:40] and advanced

[00:10:41] him

[00:10:41] and set

[00:10:42] his seat

[00:10:43] above all

[00:10:44] the princes

[00:10:45] who were with him.

[00:10:47] And all

[00:10:47] the king's

[00:10:48] servants

[00:10:49] who were

[00:10:49] within

[00:10:50] the king's

[00:10:51] gate

[00:10:51] bowed

[00:10:52] and paid

[00:10:53] homage

[00:10:53] to Haman,

[00:10:55] for so the king

[00:10:56] had commanded

[00:10:57] concerning him.

[00:10:59] But Mordecai

[00:11:01] would not

[00:11:01] bow

[00:11:02] or

[00:11:03] pay

[00:11:03] homage.

[00:11:05] Now friends,

[00:11:06] I've often

[00:11:07] asked myself

[00:11:08] why

[00:11:09] didn't

[00:11:10] he do that?

[00:11:11] So I am

[00:11:12] reading

[00:11:13] out of the

[00:11:14] Nelson Study Bible

[00:11:15] and I'd like

[00:11:16] to read

[00:11:16] the commentary

[00:11:17] for verse 2

[00:11:18] and this

[00:11:19] is

[00:11:20] a possibility

[00:11:21] of

[00:11:22] why

[00:11:23] Mordecai

[00:11:24] failed

[00:11:25] to bow

[00:11:26] down

[00:11:26] before Haman.

[00:11:28] It says

[00:11:29] all

[00:11:29] the

[00:11:30] officials

[00:11:30] of the

[00:11:31] king

[00:11:31] were on

[00:11:32] duty

[00:11:32] within

[00:11:33] the

[00:11:33] king's

[00:11:34] gate.

[00:11:35] Mordecai

[00:11:35] would not

[00:11:36] bow

[00:11:37] or

[00:11:37] pay

[00:11:38] homage.

[00:11:39] To

[00:11:40] comprehend

[00:11:40] the force

[00:11:42] of this

[00:11:42] verse

[00:11:43] we need

[00:11:44] to look

[00:11:44] at

[00:11:44] verse 4.

[00:11:46] There

[00:11:46] Mordecai

[00:11:47] reportedly

[00:11:48] told the

[00:11:49] king's

[00:11:49] servants

[00:11:49] that he

[00:11:50] was a

[00:11:50] Jew.

[00:11:50] It is

[00:11:52] not

[00:11:52] known

[00:11:52] whether

[00:11:53] the

[00:11:53] bowing

[00:11:54] was

[00:11:54] required

[00:11:55] as

[00:11:56] an

[00:11:56] act

[00:11:57] of

[00:11:57] worship

[00:11:57] to

[00:11:58] the

[00:11:58] king's

[00:11:58] man

[00:11:59] or

[00:12:00] merely

[00:12:00] as

[00:12:01] an

[00:12:01] overt

[00:12:01] sign

[00:12:02] of

[00:12:03] deep

[00:12:03] respect.

[00:12:04] The

[00:12:04] Hebrew

[00:12:05] verbs

[00:12:05] in

[00:12:06] this

[00:12:06] passage

[00:12:07] usually

[00:12:07] describe

[00:12:08] the

[00:12:09] worship

[00:12:09] of

[00:12:10] God.

[00:12:10] There

[00:12:11] were

[00:12:11] occasions

[00:12:12] when

[00:12:12] Hebrews

[00:12:13] bowed

[00:12:14] before

[00:12:14] kings

[00:12:15] or

[00:12:16] high

[00:12:16] officials

[00:12:17] without

[00:12:18] any

[00:12:19] violation

[00:12:19] of the

[00:12:20] prohibitions

[00:12:21] of

[00:12:22] false

[00:12:22] worship.

[00:12:23] It

[00:12:24] may

[00:12:24] be

[00:12:24] that

[00:12:25] in

[00:12:25] Mordecai's

[00:12:26] case

[00:12:26] also

[00:12:27] the

[00:12:28] bow

[00:12:28] was

[00:12:29] not

[00:12:29] to

[00:12:30] be

[00:12:30] a

[00:12:30] religious

[00:12:30] act

[00:12:31] but

[00:12:31] one

[00:12:32] of

[00:12:32] honor.

[00:12:33] As

[00:12:33] a

[00:12:33] Jew

[00:12:34] Mordecai

[00:12:35] may

[00:12:35] have

[00:12:36] not

[00:12:36] been

[00:12:36] able

[00:12:37] to

[00:12:37] bring

[00:12:37] himself

[00:12:38] to

[00:12:38] show

[00:12:38] this

[00:12:39] sign

[00:12:39] of

[00:12:40] respect

[00:12:40] to

[00:12:41] one

[00:12:41] who

[00:12:42] was

[00:12:43] an

[00:12:43] ancestral

[00:12:44] enemy.

[00:12:46] So

[00:12:47] something

[00:12:47] to

[00:12:48] keep

[00:12:48] in

[00:12:49] mind

[00:12:49] but

[00:12:50] this

[00:12:51] issue

[00:12:51] was

[00:12:52] a

[00:12:53] major

[00:12:53] event

[00:12:54] in

[00:12:55] Mordecai's

[00:12:56] life.

[00:12:56] Let's

[00:12:57] go to

[00:12:57] verse

[00:12:57] 3.

[00:12:58] Then

[00:12:59] the

[00:12:59] king's

[00:12:59] servants

[00:13:00] who were

[00:13:00] within

[00:13:01] the

[00:13:01] king's

[00:13:01] gate

[00:13:02] said

[00:13:02] to

[00:13:03] Mordecai

[00:13:04] why

[00:13:05] do

[00:13:05] you

[00:13:05] transgress

[00:13:06] the

[00:13:07] king's

[00:13:07] command?

[00:13:08] Now

[00:13:09] it

[00:13:09] happened

[00:13:09] when

[00:13:10] they

[00:13:10] spoke

[00:13:11] to

[00:13:11] him

[00:13:11] daily

[00:13:12] and

[00:13:12] he

[00:13:13] would

[00:13:13] not

[00:13:13] listen

[00:13:13] to

[00:13:13] them

[00:13:14] that

[00:13:14] they

[00:13:15] told

[00:13:15] it

[00:13:15] to

[00:13:15] Haman

[00:13:16] to

[00:13:16] see

[00:13:17] whether

[00:13:17] Mordecai's

[00:13:18] words

[00:13:18] would

[00:13:19] stand

[00:13:19] for

[00:13:20] Mordecai

[00:13:21] had

[00:13:21] told

[00:13:21] them

[00:13:22] that

[00:13:22] he

[00:13:22] was

[00:13:23] a

[00:13:23] Jew.

[00:13:24] When

[00:13:25] Haman

[00:13:25] saw

[00:13:26] that

[00:13:26] Mordecai

[00:13:27] did

[00:13:28] not

[00:13:28] bow

[00:13:29] or

[00:13:30] pay

[00:13:30] him

[00:13:30] homage

[00:13:31] Haman

[00:13:32] was

[00:13:32] filled

[00:13:33] with

[00:13:34] wrath

[00:13:34] but

[00:13:35] he

[00:13:35] disdained

[00:13:36] to lay

[00:13:37] hands

[00:13:37] on

[00:13:37] Mordecai

[00:13:38] alone

[00:13:39] for

[00:13:39] they

[00:13:39] had

[00:13:40] told

[00:13:40] him

[00:13:41] of

[00:13:41] the

[00:13:41] people

[00:13:42] of

[00:13:42] Mordecai

[00:13:43] instead

[00:13:44] Haman

[00:13:45] sought

[00:13:46] to destroy

[00:13:47] all the

[00:13:48] Jews

[00:13:48] who were

[00:13:49] throughout

[00:13:49] the whole

[00:13:50] kingdom

[00:13:51] of

[00:13:52] Ahasuerus

[00:13:53] the people

[00:13:54] of

[00:13:55] Mordecai

[00:13:56] so friends

[00:13:57] my second

[00:13:58] point of

[00:13:59] today's

[00:14:00] lesson

[00:14:00] is

[00:14:01] Haman

[00:14:01] sought

[00:14:02] to destroy

[00:14:03] all the

[00:14:04] Jews

[00:14:04] who were

[00:14:05] throughout

[00:14:06] the kingdom

[00:14:07] of

[00:14:08] Ahasuerus

[00:14:09] now

[00:14:10] friends

[00:14:10] this

[00:14:11] verse

[00:14:12] tells

[00:14:12] me

[00:14:13] this

[00:14:14] man

[00:14:14] was

[00:14:15] very

[00:14:16] angry

[00:14:17] I

[00:14:18] want

[00:14:18] you

[00:14:18] to

[00:14:19] think

[00:14:19] about

[00:14:20] the

[00:14:20] implications

[00:14:20] of

[00:14:21] what

[00:14:21] that

[00:14:22] means

[00:14:23] he

[00:14:24] didn't

[00:14:24] want

[00:14:25] just

[00:14:25] one

[00:14:26] person

[00:14:27] to

[00:14:28] suffer

[00:14:28] simply

[00:14:30] because

[00:14:31] he

[00:14:32] had

[00:14:32] failed

[00:14:32] to

[00:14:33] bow

[00:14:33] down

[00:14:33] to

[00:14:34] him

[00:14:34] I

[00:14:35] want

[00:14:35] you

[00:14:35] to

[00:14:35] think

[00:14:35] about

[00:14:35] that

[00:14:36] how

[00:14:37] full

[00:14:38] of

[00:14:38] himself

[00:14:39] he

[00:14:40] truly

[00:14:40] was

[00:14:41] he

[00:14:41] sees

[00:14:42] one

[00:14:42] person

[00:14:43] not

[00:14:43] bowing

[00:14:44] down

[00:14:44] to

[00:14:44] him

[00:14:44] and

[00:14:45] he

[00:14:45] doesn't

[00:14:46] just

[00:14:46] want

[00:14:46] to

[00:14:46] get

[00:14:46] rid

[00:14:46] of

[00:14:46] this

[00:14:47] one

[00:14:47] man

[00:14:47] he

[00:14:48] wants

[00:14:48] to

[00:14:48] get

[00:14:49] rid

[00:14:49] of

[00:14:49] the

[00:14:49] entire

[00:14:50] race

[00:14:51] of

[00:14:52] Jews

[00:14:53] that

[00:14:54] tells

[00:14:55] me

[00:14:55] how

[00:14:56] evil

[00:14:56] this

[00:14:57] man

[00:14:58] Haman

[00:14:59] truly

[00:15:00] was

[00:15:00] let's

[00:15:01] go to

[00:15:01] verse

[00:15:02] seven

[00:15:02] in

[00:15:03] the

[00:15:03] first

[00:15:03] month

[00:15:04] which

[00:15:04] is

[00:15:05] the

[00:15:05] month

[00:15:05] of

[00:15:06] Nisan

[00:15:06] in

[00:15:07] the

[00:15:07] twelfth

[00:15:07] year

[00:15:08] of

[00:15:08] king

[00:15:08] Ahasuerus

[00:15:09] they

[00:15:09] cast

[00:15:10] poor

[00:15:10] that

[00:15:11] is

[00:15:11] the

[00:15:11] lot

[00:15:12] before

[00:15:13] Haman

[00:15:13] to

[00:15:14] determine

[00:15:14] the

[00:15:15] day

[00:15:15] and

[00:15:16] the

[00:15:16] month

[00:15:16] until

[00:15:17] it

[00:15:17] fell

[00:15:17] on

[00:15:18] the

[00:15:18] twelfth

[00:15:18] month

[00:15:19] which

[00:15:19] is

[00:15:19] the

[00:15:20] month

[00:15:20] of

[00:15:20] Adar

[00:15:21] then

[00:15:22] Haman

[00:15:22] said

[00:15:23] to

[00:15:23] king

[00:15:23] Ahasuerus

[00:15:24] there

[00:15:25] is a

[00:15:25] certain

[00:15:25] people

[00:15:26] scattered

[00:15:27] and

[00:15:28] dispersed

[00:15:28] among

[00:15:29] the

[00:15:29] people

[00:15:29] in

[00:15:30] all

[00:15:30] the

[00:15:31] provinces

[00:15:31] of

[00:15:31] your

[00:15:32] kingdom

[00:15:32] their

[00:15:33] laws

[00:15:33] are

[00:15:34] different

[00:15:34] from

[00:15:35] all

[00:15:35] other

[00:15:35] peoples

[00:15:36] and

[00:15:37] they

[00:15:37] do

[00:15:37] not

[00:15:37] keep

[00:15:38] the

[00:15:38] king's

[00:15:39] laws

[00:15:39] therefore

[00:15:40] it

[00:15:41] is

[00:15:41] not

[00:15:42] fitting

[00:15:42] for

[00:15:43] the

[00:15:43] king

[00:15:43] to

[00:15:43] let

[00:15:44] them

[00:15:44] remain

[00:15:45] if

[00:15:46] it

[00:15:46] pleases

[00:15:46] the

[00:15:47] king

[00:15:47] let

[00:15:48] a

[00:15:49] decree

[00:15:49] be

[00:15:49] written

[00:15:50] that

[00:15:51] they

[00:15:51] be

[00:15:52] destroyed

[00:15:52] and

[00:15:53] I

[00:15:53] will

[00:15:54] pay

[00:15:54] ten

[00:15:54] thousand

[00:15:55] talents

[00:15:55] of

[00:15:56] silver

[00:15:56] into

[00:15:57] the

[00:15:57] hands

[00:15:57] of

[00:15:58] those

[00:15:58] who

[00:15:58] do

[00:15:59] the

[00:15:59] work

[00:15:59] to

[00:16:00] bring

[00:16:00] it

[00:16:00] into

[00:16:01] the

[00:16:01] king's

[00:16:02] treasuries

[00:16:03] now

[00:16:04] friends

[00:16:04] my

[00:16:05] third

[00:16:05] and

[00:16:06] final

[00:16:06] point

[00:16:06] for

[00:16:07] today's

[00:16:07] lesson

[00:16:08] is

[00:16:08] this

[00:16:09] let

[00:16:09] a

[00:16:10] decree

[00:16:11] be

[00:16:11] written

[00:16:12] that

[00:16:13] they

[00:16:13] meaning

[00:16:14] the

[00:16:15] Jews

[00:16:15] be

[00:16:16] destroyed

[00:16:16] let's

[00:16:18] go to

[00:16:18] verse

[00:16:18] 10

[00:16:18] so

[00:16:19] the

[00:16:19] king

[00:16:20] took

[00:16:20] his

[00:16:21] signet

[00:16:21] ring

[00:16:21] from

[00:16:22] his

[00:16:22] hand

[00:16:23] and

[00:16:24] gave

[00:16:24] it

[00:16:24] to

[00:16:24] Haman

[00:16:24] the

[00:16:25] son

[00:16:26] of

[00:16:26] Hamadatha

[00:16:27] the

[00:16:27] Agagite

[00:16:28] the

[00:16:29] enemy

[00:16:29] of

[00:16:30] the

[00:16:30] Jews

[00:16:31] and

[00:16:32] the

[00:16:32] king

[00:16:32] said

[00:16:32] to

[00:16:33] Haman

[00:16:33] the

[00:16:34] money

[00:16:34] and

[00:16:34] the

[00:16:34] people

[00:16:35] are

[00:16:35] given

[00:16:36] to

[00:16:36] you

[00:16:36] to

[00:16:37] do

[00:16:37] with

[00:16:37] them

[00:16:38] as

[00:16:39] seems

[00:16:39] good

[00:16:39] to

[00:16:40] you

[00:16:40] then

[00:16:42] the

[00:16:42] king's

[00:16:43] scribes

[00:16:43] were

[00:16:43] called

[00:16:44] on

[00:16:44] the

[00:16:44] thirteenth

[00:16:45] day

[00:16:45] of the

[00:16:46] first

[00:16:46] month

[00:16:47] and

[00:16:47] a

[00:16:47] decree

[00:16:48] was

[00:16:49] written

[00:16:49] according

[00:16:50] to

[00:16:50] all

[00:16:50] that

[00:16:51] Haman

[00:16:51] commanded

[00:16:52] to

[00:16:53] the

[00:16:53] king's

[00:16:53] satraps

[00:16:54] to

[00:16:54] the

[00:16:55] governors

[00:16:55] who

[00:16:55] were

[00:16:56] over

[00:16:56] each

[00:16:56] province

[00:16:57] to

[00:16:57] the

[00:16:58] officials

[00:16:58] of

[00:16:59] all

[00:16:59] people

[00:16:59] to

[00:17:00] every

[00:17:00] province

[00:17:01] according

[00:17:02] to

[00:17:02] its

[00:17:02] script

[00:17:03] and

[00:17:03] to

[00:17:04] every

[00:17:04] people

[00:17:04] in

[00:17:05] their

[00:17:05] language

[00:17:05] in

[00:17:06] the

[00:17:06] name

[00:17:07] of

[00:17:07] king

[00:17:07] Ahasuerus

[00:17:08] it

[00:17:09] was

[00:17:09] written

[00:17:09] and

[00:17:10] sealed

[00:17:10] with

[00:17:11] the

[00:17:11] king's

[00:17:12] signet

[00:17:13] ring

[00:17:13] and

[00:17:14] the

[00:17:14] letters

[00:17:14] were sent

[00:17:15] by couriers

[00:17:16] into all

[00:17:18] the king's

[00:17:18] provinces

[00:17:19] to destroy

[00:17:20] to kill

[00:17:21] and

[00:17:22] to

[00:17:23] annihilate

[00:17:24] all

[00:17:24] the

[00:17:25] Jews

[00:17:25] both

[00:17:26] young

[00:17:27] and old

[00:17:28] little

[00:17:29] children

[00:17:29] and women

[00:17:30] in one

[00:17:31] day

[00:17:31] on the

[00:17:32] thirteenth

[00:17:33] day

[00:17:33] of the

[00:17:34] twelfth

[00:17:34] month

[00:17:35] which is

[00:17:36] the month

[00:17:37] of Adar

[00:17:37] and

[00:17:38] to plunder

[00:17:39] their possessions

[00:17:40] a copy

[00:17:42] of the

[00:17:42] document

[00:17:42] was to

[00:17:43] be issued

[00:17:44] as law

[00:17:44] in every

[00:17:45] province

[00:17:46] being

[00:17:47] published

[00:17:47] for all

[00:17:48] people

[00:17:48] that they

[00:17:49] should be

[00:17:50] ready

[00:17:50] for that

[00:17:51] day

[00:17:51] the

[00:17:52] couriers

[00:17:52] went out

[00:17:53] hastened

[00:17:54] by the

[00:17:55] king's

[00:17:55] command

[00:17:56] and

[00:17:56] a decree

[00:17:57] was

[00:17:58] proclaimed

[00:17:58] in

[00:17:59] Shushan

[00:17:59] the citadel

[00:18:01] so the

[00:18:02] king

[00:18:02] and

[00:18:02] Haman

[00:18:03] sat down

[00:18:04] to drink

[00:18:04] but the

[00:18:05] city

[00:18:06] of

[00:18:06] Shushan

[00:18:07] was

[00:18:08] perplexed

[00:18:10] now friends

[00:18:11] what I'd

[00:18:12] like to

[00:18:13] do

[00:18:13] before we

[00:18:14] close

[00:18:14] today

[00:18:14] is to

[00:18:15] go back

[00:18:15] to our

[00:18:16] proverb

[00:18:17] of the

[00:18:17] day

[00:18:18] because I

[00:18:18] believe

[00:18:19] the lesson

[00:18:19] that I

[00:18:20] have

[00:18:21] pointed

[00:18:22] out

[00:18:22] for

[00:18:23] today's

[00:18:23] lesson

[00:18:24] verse

[00:18:25] 16

[00:18:26] kind

[00:18:27] of talks

[00:18:28] about this

[00:18:28] man

[00:18:29] Haman

[00:18:29] it says

[00:18:30] he

[00:18:30] who

[00:18:31] oppresses

[00:18:31] the

[00:18:32] poor

[00:18:32] to

[00:18:33] increase

[00:18:34] his

[00:18:34] riches

[00:18:35] and

[00:18:36] he

[00:18:37] who

[00:18:37] gives

[00:18:37] to

[00:18:38] the

[00:18:38] rich

[00:18:38] will

[00:18:39] surely

[00:18:40] come

[00:18:41] to

[00:18:41] poverty

[00:18:42] and

[00:18:43] friends

[00:18:44] the

[00:18:44] gist

[00:18:44] of

[00:18:45] this

[00:18:45] verse

[00:18:45] is

[00:18:46] exactly

[00:18:47] what

[00:18:48] Haman

[00:18:48] is

[00:18:49] doing

[00:18:49] Haman

[00:18:50] is

[00:18:50] taking

[00:18:51] advantage

[00:18:51] of

[00:18:52] his

[00:18:52] position

[00:18:53] which

[00:18:53] the

[00:18:54] king

[00:18:54] has

[00:18:55] given

[00:18:55] him

[00:18:56] and

[00:18:57] he

[00:18:57] wants

[00:18:58] power

[00:18:59] he

[00:19:00] wants

[00:19:00] the

[00:19:00] king

[00:19:01] to

[00:19:01] recognize

[00:19:02] the

[00:19:02] importance

[00:19:03] of

[00:19:04] who

[00:19:04] he

[00:19:04] is

[00:19:05] and

[00:19:05] how

[00:19:06] important

[00:19:07] he

[00:19:07] is

[00:19:08] to

[00:19:08] the

[00:19:08] king

[00:19:09] and

[00:19:10] to

[00:19:10] this

[00:19:10] country

[00:19:11] and

[00:19:12] friends

[00:19:12] the

[00:19:13] bottom

[00:19:13] line

[00:19:13] is

[00:19:14] Haman

[00:19:14] is

[00:19:15] an

[00:19:15] evil

[00:19:16] man

[00:19:16] and

[00:19:17] most

[00:19:17] of

[00:19:17] you

[00:19:17] know

[00:19:18] the

[00:19:18] story

[00:19:19] how

[00:19:20] it

[00:19:20] ended

[00:19:20] Haman

[00:19:21] ends

[00:19:22] up

[00:19:22] hanging

[00:19:23] from

[00:19:24] a

[00:19:25] 75

[00:19:25] foot

[00:19:26] gallows

[00:19:26] which

[00:19:27] he

[00:19:28] literally

[00:19:28] has

[00:19:29] built

[00:19:30] for

[00:19:31] hopefully

[00:19:32] Mordecai

[00:19:33] to be

[00:19:34] hung

[00:19:34] on

[00:19:35] and

[00:19:36] instead

[00:19:37] of

[00:19:37] Mordecai

[00:19:38] hanging

[00:19:39] from

[00:19:40] the

[00:19:40] gallows

[00:19:41] Haman

[00:19:42] ends

[00:19:43] up

[00:19:43] hanging

[00:19:45] from

[00:19:46] the

[00:19:46] same

[00:19:47] gallows

[00:19:48] that

[00:19:48] he

[00:19:49] had

[00:19:50] prepared

[00:19:50] for

[00:19:51] Mordecai

[00:19:52] to

[00:19:53] be

[00:19:53] hung

[00:19:53] on

[00:19:54] it's

[00:19:55] a

[00:19:55] wonderful

[00:19:55] story

[00:19:56] but

[00:19:56] it's

[00:19:57] a

[00:19:57] very

[00:19:57] sad

[00:19:58] story

[00:19:59] because

[00:20:00] of

[00:20:01] the

[00:20:02] evil

[00:20:02] man

[00:20:03] Haman

[00:20:04] and

[00:20:05] friends

[00:20:05] even

[00:20:06] today

[00:20:06] we have

[00:20:07] people

[00:20:08] in our

[00:20:08] world

[00:20:09] that are

[00:20:09] evil

[00:20:10] as well

[00:20:10] people

[00:20:11] who

[00:20:12] try

[00:20:12] to

[00:20:14] get

[00:20:15] people

[00:20:16] in

[00:20:17] trouble

[00:20:17] that they

[00:20:18] don't

[00:20:18] like

[00:20:19] they may

[00:20:20] say

[00:20:20] something

[00:20:21] spread

[00:20:21] false

[00:20:22] rumors

[00:20:22] and

[00:20:23] that's

[00:20:24] what

[00:20:24] this

[00:20:24] ninth

[00:20:25] commandment

[00:20:26] is

[00:20:26] all

[00:20:27] about

[00:20:28] so

[00:20:29] my

[00:20:29] call

[00:20:29] to

[00:20:29] action

[00:20:30] today

[00:20:30] is

[00:20:31] to

[00:20:32] ask

[00:20:32] yourself

[00:20:33] this

[00:20:34] question

[00:20:35] are

[00:20:37] you

[00:20:38] spreading

[00:20:40] false

[00:20:41] information

[00:20:42] about

[00:20:43] anyone

[00:20:43] that

[00:20:45] you may

[00:20:45] not

[00:20:45] like

[00:20:46] whether

[00:20:47] it be

[00:20:47] at

[00:20:47] work

[00:20:48] or

[00:20:49] people

[00:20:51] that

[00:20:51] you

[00:20:51] know

[00:20:52] maybe

[00:20:53] even

[00:20:53] people

[00:20:54] in

[00:20:54] your

[00:20:55] own

[00:20:55] family

[00:20:55] that

[00:20:56] has

[00:20:57] kind

[00:20:57] of

[00:20:57] been

[00:20:58] blackballed

[00:20:59] and

[00:20:59] you know

[00:21:00] kind

[00:21:00] of

[00:21:00] ridiculed

[00:21:01] by the

[00:21:01] family

[00:21:02] are

[00:21:03] you

[00:21:04] the

[00:21:04] type

[00:21:04] of

[00:21:05] individual

[00:21:05] that

[00:21:06] will

[00:21:06] spread

[00:21:07] rumors

[00:21:08] or give

[00:21:09] information

[00:21:10] it

[00:21:11] may be

[00:21:11] partially

[00:21:11] true

[00:21:12] as I

[00:21:12] mentioned

[00:21:13] earlier

[00:21:13] but

[00:21:14] it's

[00:21:15] not

[00:21:15] really

[00:21:15] the

[00:21:15] fact

[00:21:16] of

[00:21:16] how

[00:21:16] true

[00:21:17] it

[00:21:17] is

[00:21:17] other

[00:21:18] than

[00:21:18] the

[00:21:18] fact

[00:21:19] that

[00:21:19] deep

[00:21:19] down

[00:21:20] you

[00:21:21] want

[00:21:22] to

[00:21:22] destroy

[00:21:23] their

[00:21:24] reputation

[00:21:25] and

[00:21:26] try

[00:21:27] to

[00:21:27] slander

[00:21:28] them

[00:21:29] friends

[00:21:30] I

[00:21:30] hope

[00:21:31] that

[00:21:31] is

[00:21:32] not

[00:21:32] you

[00:21:32] friends

[00:21:33] I

[00:21:33] will

[00:21:34] never

[00:21:34] end

[00:21:34] a

[00:21:35] podcast

[00:21:35] without

[00:21:36] giving

[00:21:36] anyone

[00:21:37] an

[00:21:37] opportunity

[00:21:38] to

[00:21:38] receive

[00:21:39] Jesus

[00:21:39] as

[00:21:40] their

[00:21:40] Lord

[00:21:40] and

[00:21:40] Savior

[00:21:41] if

[00:21:41] there

[00:21:41] is

[00:21:42] anyone

[00:21:42] listening

[00:21:42] today

[00:21:43] and

[00:21:43] you've

[00:21:43] never

[00:21:44] taken

[00:21:44] that

[00:21:44] step

[00:21:45] I

[00:21:45] invite

[00:21:45] you

[00:21:46] to

[00:21:46] repeat

[00:21:46] a

[00:21:46] simple

[00:21:47] prayer

[00:21:47] after

[00:21:48] me

[00:21:48] today

[00:21:48] Jesus

[00:21:49] I

[00:21:50] thank

[00:21:50] you

[00:21:50] for

[00:21:51] coming

[00:21:51] to

[00:21:51] earth

[00:21:51] I

[00:21:52] believe

[00:21:52] that

[00:21:53] you

[00:21:53] are

[00:21:53] the

[00:21:54] son

[00:21:54] of

[00:21:54] God

[00:21:54] and

[00:21:55] you

[00:21:55] came

[00:21:55] to

[00:21:55] earth

[00:21:56] and

[00:21:56] died

[00:21:57] on

[00:21:57] a

[00:21:57] cross

[00:21:57] for

[00:21:58] everyone

[00:21:58] listening

[00:21:59] to

[00:21:59] this

[00:21:59] podcast

[00:22:00] today

[00:22:00] I

[00:22:01] believe

[00:22:01] by

[00:22:02] dying

[00:22:02] on

[00:22:02] that

[00:22:02] cross

[00:22:03] all

[00:22:03] of

[00:22:04] my

[00:22:04] sins

[00:22:04] have

[00:22:05] been

[00:22:05] forgiven

[00:22:05] Jesus

[00:22:06] I

[00:22:07] want

[00:22:07] to

[00:22:07] thank

[00:22:07] you

[00:22:07] for

[00:22:08] forgiving

[00:22:08] for

[00:22:09] me

[00:22:09] to

[00:22:09] God

[00:22:10] I

[00:22:11] have

[00:22:13] other

[00:22:14] issues

[00:22:14] in

[00:22:15] life

[00:22:15] I

[00:22:16] really

[00:22:16] want

[00:22:17] to

[00:22:17] rely

[00:22:18] on

[00:22:18] you

[00:22:18] so

[00:22:19] I

[00:22:19] ask

[00:22:19] that

[00:22:19] you

[00:22:20] come

[00:22:20] into

[00:22:20] my

[00:22:20] heart

[00:22:21] I

[00:22:22] ask

[00:22:22] that

[00:22:22] you

[00:22:22] lead

[00:22:22] me

[00:22:23] and

[00:22:23] guide

[00:22:23] me

[00:22:24] from

[00:22:24] this

[00:22:24] point

[00:22:24] forward

[00:22:25] in

[00:22:25] my

[00:22:25] life

[00:22:26] I

[00:22:26] make

[00:22:27] you

[00:22:27] my

[00:22:28] Lord

[00:22:29] and

[00:22:29] Savior

[00:22:30] now

[00:22:31] may

[00:22:31] the

[00:22:31] Lord

[00:22:32] bless

[00:22:32] you

[00:22:32] and

[00:22:33] keep

[00:22:33] you

[00:22:34] the

[00:22:34] Lord

[00:22:34] make

[00:22:35] his

[00:22:35] face

[00:22:35] shine

[00:22:36] upon

[00:22:36] you

[00:22:37] and

[00:22:37] be

[00:22:37] gracious

[00:22:38] to

[00:22:38] you

[00:22:38] the

[00:22:39] Lord

[00:22:39] lift

[00:22:40] up

[00:22:40] his

[00:22:40] countenance

[00:22:41] upon

[00:22:41] you

[00:22:42] and

[00:22:42] give

[00:22:43] you

[00:22:43] peace

[00:22:44] friends

[00:22:44] this

[00:22:45] is

[00:22:46] the

[00:22:46] weekend

[00:22:46] go

[00:22:47] out

[00:22:47] with

[00:22:48] your

[00:22:48] spouse

[00:22:48] have

[00:22:49] a

[00:22:49] great

[00:22:49] time

[00:22:50] take

[00:22:50] the

[00:22:51] kids

[00:22:51] along

[00:22:51] with

[00:22:51] you

[00:22:52] have

[00:22:52] a

[00:22:52] nice

[00:22:52] family

[00:22:53] outing

[00:22:53] let

[00:22:54] them

[00:22:54] know

[00:22:55] how

[00:22:55] much

[00:22:55] God

[00:22:55] loves

[00:22:56] them

[00:22:56] and

[00:22:57] how

[00:22:57] much

[00:22:57] you

[00:22:57] love

[00:22:58] them

[00:22:58] and

[00:22:59] I

[00:22:59] hope

[00:22:59] to

[00:22:59] see

[00:23:00] you

[00:23:00] back

[00:23:00] on

[00:23:01] Monday

[00:23:01] as

[00:23:02] we

[00:23:02] further

[00:23:02] explore

[00:23:03] wisdom

[00:23:04] today
