449. Job - Chapter #26 - God Created the Galaxies! - December 21, 2023

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 21. I will then key in on verse 3 - To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. On today's podcast we will continue our study on the Book of Job. Today we will be taking a closer look at Chapter #26. This is the first of six chapters that Job has the microphone and he is going to make his feelings and thoughts known to God. By the time we complete this chapter I would like for you to think about three things:

1. Who is mere man? This is a continuation of Chapter #25 - verse 6 of yesterday's podcast - where Bildad compares man to a worm and a maggot. The point I believe Job is making in this chapter is that compared to God man has no power or wisdom

2. God controls the seas - Jesus demonstrated this while He was on earth. A violent storm came up in the Sea of Galilee and Jesus calmed the storm. God is in control of the seas and the Heavens as well.

3. God created the galaxies - in this chapter Job has the revelation that the earth is a circular sphere (in the 1500s and 1600s most of the world believed the world was flat). And yet, Job, who lived about 3,500 years ago somehow had that knowledge.

Righteousness and justice is very important to God. Many people on earth make a point of sacrificing to God (i.e. some Catholics during the period of Lent give up eating certain foods, or not watching tv for a month, or so). That is not what pleases God. It's being righteous & doing good that pleases Him.
