Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 13. I will then key in on verse 6 - Righteousness guards him whose way is blameless, But wickedness overthrows the sinner. Friends, this verse magnifies the contrast between being righteous (and basically doing good) and wickedness (doing things that God would not approve of). Today we will continue in our study of the Book of Job. Three things that I would like for you to consider about this chapter are:
1.. God loves righteousness and justice. I will highlight two verses of scripture which confirm this. (Psalm 33:5 & Jeremiah 9:24).
2. God chastens those He loves. A verse that demonstrates this is found in the Book of Hebrews (Chapter 12: verses 5-7).
3. We are to care for the widows and the hungry. First of all, Jesus cared for these people. We actually hear the words Jesus spoke in Matthew's gospel - Chapter 25: verses 35 & 36). Also 1st Timothy talks about caring for widows in the passage of scripture recorded in Chapter 5: verses 3-10.
Call to Action: Ask yourself if you are caring for the widows (in your neighborhood; your church, etc?) Are you considerate of those around you who are in need (those much less fortunate than you).
