Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 11. I will then key in on verses 10 & 11 - When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices; And when the wicked perish, there is jubilation. By the blessing of the upright the city is exalter, But it is overthrown by the moth of the wicked. I will begin by going over the commentary in my Bible (the Nelson Study Bible) for these two verses. It tells us that truly righteous people bring justice to all of the inhabitants of a city. The wording of the commentary actually says that things will be as the "ought to be." Friends, we want the righteous people to be having there way, and not evil people. I will being an example in the Bible in the Book of Genesis. It is found in Chapter 18. I will read beginning in verse 20 & read through verse 33. This is the story of Sodom & Gemorrah. Abraham is center stage in this drama and is intervening for any righteous people who may be living in the city. God has determined He is going to destroy these two cities, but Abraham gets God to agree that the cities will not be destroyed if 10 righteous can be found in the city. However, there were NOT 10 righteous in the city - so the cities were destroyed. I will bring up a verse in the Book of Ecclesiastes which states that "There is nothing new under the sun." Friends, evil people have been in this world since the beginning of time. We are to pray for our leaders and pray that they have wisdom and pray that the righteous will win out and determine the path of our nation. Call to Action - Ask yourself if you are doing everything you can to do your part in having the righteous lead our country?
