Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be looking at Proverb 18. I will then key in on verse 1 - A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgement. Friends, today I am continuing on a series entitled "Your Job is Your Ministry." Last week I spent Monday's, Wednesday's, & Thursday's podcasts talking about people who do not like there job, people who would maybe like a higher paying job, or people who need to consider making a change with their job - (I invite anyone who did not get a chance to tune in to listen to those particular podcasts). This week I look at people who do not enjoy going to work not because of the particular job that they do, but because of the people who are at their workplace. Today we are going to key in on the person who does not want to be friendly with people at work (either out of pride, or maybe because they might be extremely shy). I will read the commentary of this verse in my Bible (The Nelson Study Bible). Friends, there is a good chance that if you do not get along with the people at work that your job is not going well for you. Instead I suggest you look at verse 24 of this same proverb - A man who has friends "must himself be friendly." Friends, the very least we should do when we get to work is put a smile on our face and at least pretend that we want to be there. Many people today do NOT do that - they let everyone know that they do not want to be there and sometimes even "snap" at people who approach them or ask them for help (not a good idea especially if you are in a business that serves customers). Call to Action - ask yourself if you a verse 1 person, or a verse 24 person. If you are a verse 24 person, good for you! My guess is that if that is you you really enjoy your job and this podcast may not be speaking to you. However, if you are a verse 1 person, I ask that you seek God in prayer and ask Him to help you with this. Suggested scripture reading - Reread today's proverb, Proverb 18 in its entirety.
