Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will begin by reading Proverb 19. We will then highlight verse 5. We will revisit the story of Abraham and Isaac and discuss the blessing that Isaac places on Jacob (at the expense of Esau). This story is found in Genesis Chapter 27: 1-20. We will then find out in verse 41 that Esau has designs to kill Jacob because he has stolen his blessing. So, two things happen that are a direct reflection of the deception of Jacob in this story. First of all, he fears for his life because of Esau. The second, and maybe more significant thing is that Rebekah never gets to see her favorite son, Jacob, again. Not only does she never get to see Jacob again, she also does not have the opportunity to see any of her grandchildren through Jacob either. We review verse 5 of our proverb and one can conclude that you if gain favor through deceit or bearing false witness usually there will be a heavy price to pay.
