Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 19. I will then key in on verse 27 - Cease listening to instruction, my son, And you will stray from the words of knowledge. Friends, when I was a classroom teacher, I suggested to my students that they truly develop a desire for instruction and expressed my desire that they each would become lifelong learning. This verse soberly warns us that if we stop learning and gaining new knowledge and information that we will stray from the words of knowledge. I hope that doesn't happen to any of you listening today. Today we will continue our study of Matthew's Gospel - specifically Chapter 26. I will remind the audience that I began Chapter 26 on last Thursday's podcast and continued on Monday's podcast and invite anyone to listen to those prior to listening to this podcast if they have the time to do so. I will begin by reading verses 36-46 of Chapter 26. These verses go over the details of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane on the night that He was betrayed. I go over the fact that he asked eight of His disciples to stay in one place and asked Peter and the sons of Zebedee to come with Him to a different area of the garden. He asked them to pray. He then left even the three and prayed on His knees to God in Heaven and asked that, if there was any other way for God's will to be fulfilled to take the cup (of Wrath) away from Jesus. Nevertheless, Jesus confirmed that He would do what He was sent to do (die on that cross) - if that was the only way. Call to Action - Pretend that you were in the garden with Jesus that Night. What would it have been like? What would you have done? Suggested scripture reading: 1. Reread today's proverb, Proverb 19 in its entirety; 2. Reread Chapter 26 of Matthew in its entirety.
