Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 1. I will then key in on verse 10 - My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent. I would recommend you continue reading onto verse 19. All of these verses go together. But, in verse 10 it tells us not to be enticed by sinners. Friends, I used to be a sinner, prior to being saved back in 1995. I used to do a lot of things I wouldn't even think about doing now. I used to think differently. As I draw closer and closer to God, I am becoming more and more like Jesus. This is what we should aspire to do in our lives. Today, we will continue our study on Matthew's gospel. Today we will be looking at Chapter #8. If you have missed the past few podcasts, I would invite you to listen to the podcasts that went over chapter #5, chapter #6, and chapter #7. We begin chapter #8 immediately after Jesus has finished his Sermon on the Mount. I will read verse 1 - which tells us that multitudes of people followed Jesus. In verses 2 & 3 a leper approached Jesus as told Him, "If you are willing, you can heal me." Jesus said that He was willing and immediately healed him. I will read verses 5-10. These verses tell us that even the Gentiles (Romans) understood the power and authority which Jesus walked in. Verse 13 tells us the importance of our believing. I go over Mark Chapter #11: verse 24 which tells us that - when we pray, that what we believe will come to pass. I go over the healing of Peter's mother-in-law. I go over verses 16 & 17 which tells us that Jesus healed all who were sick. I emphasize that Jesus is still in the healing business today. I talk about the cost of discipleship and that Jesus didn't just tell us to receive Him by saying the Sinner's prayer, but that we actually become disciples (or followers of Jesus). The cost is everything. We need to totally dedicate our lives to living as Jesus lived and learn to become and live as He did. Call to Action: I want you to imagine what it must have been like when Jesus healed ALL who came to Him. Suggested scripture reading: 1. Reread today's proverb, Proverb 1 in its entirety; 2.
