286. Walking in Humility (NT-#10) - John 1st of 3 May 8, 2023

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 8. I will then key in on verse 13 - The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate. The fear of the Lord here is to realize that He is God, and we are not. God hates evil, and anything associated evil. God also hates pride. We need to get rid of any semblance of pride in our lives if we want God to work in our lives and to hear our prayers. Today I will begin a study on John, the disciple whom Jesus loved. John's gospel is the only gospel that goes over the eight miracles performed by Jesus in the New Testament. He also goes over the seven "I am" statements which Jesus identified as who He was. I will go over three scripture passages of John's gospel. I will go over Chapter #1: verses 6-18. These verses explain that John the Baptist came as a forerunner of Jesus Christ. They also go over that whosoever received Him (Jesus) would be saved and would be called Sons of God! In the second passage, Chapter 10: verses 1-10, Jesus explains that He is the gate and the His sheep hear His voice. This tells us that if we belong to Jesus (and receive Him as our Lord and Savior) that we will be able to hear Him speaking to us (not in an audible voice - but through the Spirit). Verse 10 tells us that the thief (satan) comes only to steal, to kill, and to destroy our lives, our dreams, etc. - but that Jesus came that we might have life, and that we might have life more abundantly! The final passage of scripture is from Chapter #16: verses 5-15. These verses tell us that Jesus has sent us the Holy Spirit (the comforter). He now dwells within us and will guide us into all truth. The Call to Action to day is to thank God for His love for us and sending us His son. Suggested scripture reading: Read Chapters 15, 16, & 17 of John's gospel.
