275. How to Renew Our Minds - Part #2 April 21, 2023

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 21. I will then key in on verse 4 - A haughty look, a proud heart, And the plowing of the wicked are sin. A haughty look means to look down on someone. Friends, let me remind you that God loves each and everyone of His children. We are no better than anyone else. Secondly, a proud heart - if we have one means that God will resist you - meaning that if you are praying to Him and asking Him why your life is such a mess that He will not hear you. Give that some thought. Today I will be continuing the podcast from April 7th. If you have not listened to that podcast, I ask that you consider going back to that prior to listening to this. In Romans 12: verse 2 it tells us that we need to renew our minds. On that podcast, and continuing today, I am going to demonstrate how we can go about doing just that. The first thing that we need to no is get rid of our "sit-in thinkin!" What that means is that we simply need to change the way that we think. One of things that we need to get rid of is our fear. In 2 Timothy Chapter 1:7 it tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear. The 2nd thing we need to get rid of is our anxiety or worry. Paul tells us how we can do that in the Book of Philippians, Chapter #4: verse 4-9. Thirdly, know that the devil goes about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (a way to avoid the devil is found in 1 Peter 5: verses 5-10). Finally, in 1 John 4: verse 4 it tells us that if we have received Jesus into our hearts He is greater than anything the devil can throw your way. Maybe the most important consideration prior to renewing your mind is understanding how much God loves you! In the gospel of John, Chapter 17: verse 3 it tells us that our first priority in life is that we come to know the true God, and Jesus, His son whom He sent to earth for us. Everything in life comes about in relation to the relationship that you have with Him. Call to Action - Ask God two things - 1. is there anything that you are fearful of? 2. Is there anything you are anxious about? (If there is, ask God to remove that from your life). Suggested scripture reading. Go over each of the verses that I have discussed on this podcast. 2. Read Proverb 22 tomorrow and Proverb 23 on Sunday.
