173. God is our Shield - November 30, 2022

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 30.  I will then key in on verse 5:  Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.  Friends, this should be an encouragement to all of you to have a desire to read the Bible.  The fact that every word is pure is so comforting to me.  The second part of that verse tells that God is our shield.  Today we are beginning our study of the Book of Exodus.  There are three takeaways that I would like to have you consider from the 1st chapter of Exodus.  1.  The new King (Pharaoh) did not know Joseph.  I will read verses 8-12 of Chapter 1.  These verses make it plain that quite a bit of time has passed between the 50th chapter of the book of Genesis and the 1st chapter of Exodus.  Joseph dies in Chapter 50 of Genesis, but Chapter 1 of Exodus tells us the king of Egypt did not know of Joseph.  2.  The two Hebrew midwives mentioned in Chapter 1 (Shiphrah & Push) pleased God.  I will read verses 13-19, which tell us that the Pharaoh were very upset with these two women - because they had not followed direct orders to kill any child that was a male child.  It specifically says that God took care of these two women (and their households) because they had defied the orders of Pharaoh and allowed all of the male children to live.  3.  Pharaoh orders all of the male children to be thrown into the Nile River (and thus killed).  I will then reflect on the final day of my 8th month of doing this podcast.  I mention a couple changes that will be forthcoming beginning in two weeks.
