Lessons From the Psalms - Psalm 64

Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. On today's podcast we will be covering Psalm 64. Psalm 64 is attributed to King David (of Israel). It is obvious that he senses that those people who are against him have gotten then upper hand. Let's break this psalm down. In verse 1 David begins by explaining to us that he is in close fellowship with God. He is pleading with God to take away the fear that he senses in his heart pertaining to his enemies. In verse 3, he tells us the importance of using words to edify people and that there will be people who will be against us. Verses 3-6 describe (pretty clearly) that we will have people we encounter in our lives that will not be for us (but secretly desire that we not lead successful lives). However very 7 turns the script in our favor. If we are living the Christian life God will avenge us of our enemies. Verse 9 talks about there being a time (in the future) when all people shall declare the work of the Lord. We close with the promise that the righteous (us - if we have received Jesus as our Lord and Savior) shall be glad in the Lord - and put their trust in Him. And all the upright in heart (again, us) shall glory!
