Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. On today's podcast we will be taking a look at Psalm 63. This beautiful psalm is attributed to David. When this psalm was written, David has not yet been crowned the King of Israel. As a matter of fact, he is in the Judean wilderness hiding from the present King of Israel, King Saul. Verse 1 is a powerful verse - reminding us of the need to "thirst" for God. God (and having an intimate relationship with him)should be our most important objective in life. Verses 3-5 demonstrate how vital having a vibrant relationship with God is in our lives. Verse 6 is delightful! When you first lay your head on your pillow at night, always be mindful of how good God is, and think of everything He has provided for you. Verse 7 reminds me of the powerful first verse of Psalm 91 - "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." Verses 9 & 10 describe what will happen to those who are against us in life. God will ensure that they pay the price for being against us. Verse 11 closes with David prophesying that when he finally becomes the next king of Israel that he will rejoice in his God. That is followed by the fact that all believers in God (and His son Jesus) shall glory, but that the unbelievers of this world shall be stopped!
