Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. I will begin by reading this short psalm. Psalm 36 was written by King David and is known as a wisdom psalm. That being the case this psalm is like a chapter you would find in the book of Proverbs. I will make mention that I have a separate podcast covering the Book of Proverbs. In addition I make mention of the fact that this psalm was sent to the chief musician - meaning it was originally sung (or chanted) before the people. This psalm goes over the difference between God's nature and man's nature. Verses 1-4 talk about the nature of man - ever since the fall of Adam and Eve man had been born with a sin nature and is, inherently, evil in nature. Contrast this to God - who is infinitely good. Verses 5-9 talk about the fact that people who have put their trust in Jesus take comfort in God and turn to Him when they have a need in their lives. Verses 10-12 end this psalm with the reminder that evil people will one day be judged and have to give account of the life they've lived, while those who have put their trust in God will be rewarded and blessed.
