Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Psalm 19. Psalm 19 was written by King David, and was originally written to be sung by a choir during worship services. Psalm 19 is a wonderful psalm. The first six verses talk about creation and the majesty of God. I am going to go directly to verses 7-10. Verses 7 through 9 speak about the law. When referring to the law, we think of the Torah - which literally means "instruction." The law was the instructions that Moses heard from God Himself which inspired him to write the first five books of the Bible. We now refer to these books at the Pentateuch. Verse 7 presents six words for the law - law, testimony, statutes, commandment, fear, and judgements. These words go along with six evaluations that they align to - the law is perfect; His testimony is sure; His statutes are right; His commandment is pure; the fear of the Lord is clean; and His judgements are true. Finally, if we adhere to His law our souls will be converted, we will become wise, our hearts will rejoice, our eyes will be enlightened, we will endure forever, and we will be righteous altogether. Finally, if we are living the life God has called us to live our final plea should be verse 14 - "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer."
