Lessons From the Psalms - Psalm 144

Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Psalm 144. Psalm 144 is the last of the psalms written by King David of Israel. It is known as a royal psalm and David talks about the goodness and majesty of God. He reminds us of our need for God in our every day lives. After read this beautiful psalm I will break down the first nine verses. By the end of this lesson there are three things I ask that you keep in mind:
1. Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow (this verse reminds us that we are only on earth for a brief amount of time - we need to make the most of it (in a way that pleases God and in a way that ensures that people will remember us when we are no longer here).
2. I will sing a new song to you, O God, upon a ten-stringed harp I will play to you (this verse is a reminder of how we should consistently be praising God - for His goodness towards us, and also for all of the blessings He has bestowed on us)
3. Blessed are the people whose God is the Lord (the Bible promises that - if we put our trust in God (and in His son, Jesus) that we will be blessed. What a wonderful promise!)
