Lessons From the Psalms - Psalm 142

Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Psalm 142. Psalm 142 is attributed to King David of Israel and is a psalm of lament. This psalm is similar to psalms 140 & psalms 141 - in that David is praying that God deliver him from those coming against him (but unlike these two psalms he does not ask God to curse them). By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:
1. With my voice I cry out to the Lord; with my voice I plead for mercy to the Lord.
2. Look to the right and see; there is none who takes notice of me (many times in life we feel like we are all alone - but we are not (as long as we are following the commandments given to us in the Bible) - for I will never leave you nor forsake you.
3. Bring me out of prison, that I may give thanks to your name. Friends, sometimes our mind plays tricks on us (and we feel like we cannot escape the things that are happening in our lives). We should thank God on a regular basis for all that He has given us and blessed us with.
