Lessons From the Psalms - Psalm 131

Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. On today's podcast we will be going over Psalm 131. Psalm 131 is the 12th of 15 consecutive psalms entitled A Song of Ascents. This is one of the four of this collection of psalms that are attributed to King David. It is a psalm of trust. This collection of psalms were originally created for the pilgrims of Jewish dissent that made an annual journey to the city of Jerusalem and were often sung by these people during the journey. By the end of this lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:
1. O Lord, my heard is not lifted up (in other words, David was not full of pride. He was looking to God, and not relying on his own abilities).
2. I have calmed and quite my soul. (he had resigned himself to totally trust in God for his protection and having his needs met).
3. O Israel, hope in the Lord (King David is known as a man after God's own heart. Although he made mistakes during his life, he knew he could always count on God.
