Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. Today we will be taking a look at Psalm 10. According to the Nelson Study Bible Psalm 10 was originally part of Psalm 9. The two are found as one psalm in the Septuagint, the ancient Greek translation of the Hebrew Scripture. Psalm 10 reiterates the desire that started in Psalm 9 - that the Lord would deal with the enemies of the psalmist. This psalm seems to have a sense of urgency and David is pleading that God helps him in his situation. In verses 1 & 2 David seems to be angry with God - asking Him how He can allow everything that is happening around him to happen. Friends, this psalm is very relevant to our present world. More and more, the leadership of many countries is trying to eliminate God from our everyday lives. In many countries of the world, Christians are persecuted (and many martyred) for not renouncing their faith in Jesus. However, as we finish this psalm, David reminds us that, in the end, if we keep our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, that we will indeed rise victorious.
