129. We Must Choose Between Life & Death

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 28. I will then key in on verses 6, 14, and 18. These verses all have a common theme. If you basically walk with integrity (to do right thing after right thing) that your life will go well for you. Conversely, if you don't then your life will not go well for you. I will then continue my study on the book of James - picking up in Chapter 3, beginning in verse 7. I will read verses 7 through 12 in their entirety. I will then go over three points that we can take away from these verses. 1. God made man to have dominion over the Earth (Genesis 1:26-28). God's original plan was that we have dominion over all the
things of the air over all things that live and breathe on Earth, as well as all things in the sea (that covers everything). In addition, he told us to be fruitful and multiply - that means that we are to meet someone of the opposite sex, get to know them, fall in love with them, and enter into a covenant relationship with them (now known as marriage). Furthermore, we are to procreate - meaning to have children. What we can infer is that we are to bring up our children with the fear of the Lord and have them follow the instructions and commands that He has given us to live our lives. 2. We need help to tame our tongues. (Matthew 26: 40-46) I will read the story of when Jesus was in the garden of Gethsemane. Jesus was willing to yield to the will of His father (God) and go to His crucifixion so that we might have life and have it more abundantly (and to forgive us of all of our sins). If He was willing to do that, with the power of the Holy Spirit living in us, we now have the power to tame our tongue. 3. We must choose life or death (Proverb 18:21). I will then go to the book of the law - Deuteronomy 30: verses 11-19 and read this passage. God wants us to be aware each day that the words that we speak and the actions that we do can either bring forth life, or they can bring forth death. Therefore, let's choose to speak words of life each and every time we open our mouths.
