104. Daniel is Thrown into the Den of Lions

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 24. I will then key in on verses 19 & 20. These two verses explain (in detail) about how we are not to fret because of evil doers. It tills us that the lamp of the wicked will be put out. I then go to the book of Daniel, Chapter 6: verses 1-9. The backdrop of this story begins in that Darius, a Mede, has just inherited the Kingdom of Israel. Yet, he has taken a liking to Daniel, and was thinking about making him in charge of his entire realm. Jealousy is aroused among the leaders of the kingdom and they entice Darius to issue a decree which they know that Daniel will violate. If Daniel does, indeed, violate the decree then he will be thrown into the den of lions and he will be taken care of permanently. However, God delivers Daniel from the mouths of the lions. Three things which we can learn from this story are: 1. If you are living right, people will recognize you - one of two things can happen: a. they will let you know that you have something they would like (and continue ministering to them) or b. they can try to bring you down (through deceit or lies). 2. Do not fear man - Proverb 29:25 tells us that the fear of man brings a snare. We should be concerned with what God thinks of us, but we should not fear man; 3. God delivered Daniel - in vers 16 Darius, the king, pronounces to Daniel that the God whom he serves will deliver him (and He does). I then read verses 18-23 to magnify the fact that Daniel is, indeed, delivered from the mouths of the lions, and then in verse 24 go over what happened to those who tried to get rid of Daniel.
