[00:00:00] Welcome to Lessons From The Psalms. This is Bill Kelley and I'll be your host. On this

[00:00:14] podcast we will be going over the book of Psalms. So, God, I thank you for anyone listening

[00:00:23] to this Psalm today. Lord, I pray that you would reveal to everyone listening how much

[00:00:29] you truly love each and every one of them. I ask this in Jesus' name, amen. This is

[00:00:36] Psalm 45 beginning in verse 1. My heart is overflowing with a good theme. I recite my composition

[00:00:46] concerning the King. My tongue is the pen of a ready-writer. You are fairer than the sons

[00:00:54] of men. Grace is poured upon your lips. Therefore, God has blessed you forever. Gird your sword

[00:01:05] upon your thigh, O mighty one, with your glory and your majesty. And in your majesty, ride

[00:01:14] prosperously because of truth, humility and righteousness. And your right hand shall teach you

[00:01:22] awesome things. Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the King's enemies. The peoples fall

[00:01:31] under you. Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. A scepter of righteousness is the scepter

[00:01:40] of your kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness. Therefore, God, your God,

[00:01:49] has anointed you with the oil of gladness more than your companions. All your garments are

[00:01:57] scented with mure and alos and cassia out of the ivory palaces by which they have made you glad.

[00:02:06] King's daughters are among your honorable women. At your right hand stands the queen in gold from

[00:02:15] O fear. Listen, O daughter, consider and incline your ear. Forget your own people also and your father's

[00:02:26] house. So the king will greatly desire your beauty because he is your Lord, worship him and the

[00:02:35] daughter of Tyre will come with a gift. The rich among the people will seek your favor.

[00:02:43] The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace. Her clothing is woven with gold.

[00:02:51] She shall be brought to the king in robes of many colors. The virgins, her companions who follow

[00:02:59] her shall be brought to you with gladness and rejoicing they shall be brought. They shall enter the

[00:03:08] King's palace. Instead of your fathers shall be your sons whom you shall make princes in all the

[00:03:16] earth. I will make your name to be remembered in all generations. Therefore the people shall praise

[00:03:25] you forever and ever. Friend Psalm 45 is such a beautiful song and was written by the sons of Chora

[00:03:37] and basically Psalm 45 is a representation of the beauty of human marriage. That is what this

[00:03:46] Psalm is celebrating and it is also celebrating Jesus coming to earth for us and how Jesus

[00:03:57] was waiting for the church and he was going to be the bride. And so whenever you are getting ready

[00:04:05] to get married you prepare yourself and that is what the church is doing and that is what this

[00:04:13] Psalm is representing is that the church is getting ready for the coming of Jesus Christ.

[00:04:22] But what we're going to do is I'm going to break this down because it's basically broken into

[00:04:28] three parts and verses two through five is talking about the bridegroom, the person getting ready

[00:04:37] to get married. So we are celebrating a wedding today and this is the groom waiting for his bride.

[00:04:47] You are fairer than the sons of men grace is poured upon your lips. Therefore God has blessed

[00:04:57] you forever. Gird your sword upon your thigh, almighty one with your glory and your majesty

[00:05:07] and in your majesty ride prosperously because of truth humility and righteousness and your right hand

[00:05:18] shall teach you awesome things. Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies. The people

[00:05:27] fall under you. Let's look at verses six through nine. Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.

[00:05:37] A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness.

[00:05:47] Therefore God your God has anointed you with the oil of gladness more than your companions.

[00:05:58] Now friends these two verses are identical to the book of Hebrews chapter one verses eight and nine

[00:06:08] and this is Jesus coming to earth and preparing to be the bridegroom for his church.

[00:06:18] All your garments are scented with mure and allos and casea out of the ivory palaces by which

[00:06:27] they have made you glad kings daughters are among your honorable women at your right hand

[00:06:35] stands the queen in gold from O fear and we're going to close with instructions to the bride.

[00:06:46] So think about a wedding, think about the bride that is preparing herself and coming down the

[00:06:55] aisle while the groom anxiously awaits her. Listen O daughter consider and incline your ear.

[00:07:05] Forget your own people also and your father's house so the king will greatly desire your beauty

[00:07:14] because he is your lord worship him. Now here what the instructions are to the bride

[00:07:23] is you are to leave your mother and your father. You are to leave the past and prepare yourself

[00:07:32] for the king or your husband and the daughter of tire will come with a gift. The rich among the people

[00:07:42] will seek your favor. The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace. Her clothing is woven

[00:07:50] with gold. She shall be brought the king in robes of many colors. The virgins her companions who

[00:07:58] follow her shall be brought to you. With gladness and rejoicing they shall be brought they shall

[00:08:05] enter the king's palace. Instead of your fathers shall be your sons whom you shall make princes

[00:08:14] in all of the earth. I will make your name to be remembered in all generations. Therefore

[00:08:22] the people shall praise you forever and ever. Friends there is nothing like a wedding ceremony

[00:08:31] and in this psalm we are finding the groom preparing for his bride and in the end the bride is coming

[00:08:44] down the aisle and giving herself to him. Friends please join me again soon as we take a closer look

[00:08:52] at psalm forty-six.
