Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 16. I will then key in on verse 21 - The wise in heart will be called prudent, And sweetness of the lips increases learning. Friends, this is one verse of many that talks about the benefits of acquiring wisdom and implementing it in your life. One thing I will say about wisdom - it is never easily gained or quickly achieved. It, like anything in live worth any importance is something that you will have to invest in, put your heart into, and spend some time with in order for it to bear fruit. This is one of the reasons it is so important to read - both scripture and other books as well. Today we will look at the 13th Chapter of Matthew and go over why Jesus would speak to the common folk of that time in parables. I will read verses 10-17 and explain that some things have to be spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 2:14). These verses are telling us that these people simply couldn't understand the words Jesus was very clearly explaining to them - and that's because they were trying to understand His words using human reasoning, instead of being led by the Spirit. Because of this they couldn't understand what He was intending to get across to them. I will then go over the parable of the wheat and the tares. This is a very vivid parable that portrays the world today. There is good ground (people who live their lives as productive Christians doing good and having fruit follow every aspect of their lives and their are evil people (people who may reject God or reject the Bible and do evil). We will always have a presence of evil in this world, and I believe it is up to us with what we do with that). Call to action - ask yourself if, were you to die today (or tonight) do you know where you would spend eternity? Suggested scripture reading: 1. Reread Proverb 16 today; 2 Proverb 17 tomorrow; and Proverb 18 on Sunday.
