130. We are to Seek Wisdom From Above - September 29, 2022

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 29.  I will then go over verse 20:  Do you see a man hasty in his words?  There is more hope for a fool than for him.  I will then refer to three passages of scripture that also deal with the importance of watching the words that we speak:  James 1:19; Proverb 17: verses 27 & 28; and Mathew 12: verses 36 and 37.  I invite anyone to make reference to these verses and try to keep them in your memory bank.  These verses are all reminders of being mindful of thinking carefully and thoughtfully of the words we are going to speak prior to actually speaking them.  I will then move to the 3rd chapter of James, where we will close out this chapter by reading verses 13 through 18.  I will read these verses in their entirety and then go over three things that we can learn from these verses: 1.  To have meekness is a sign that you have wisdom - I will then reread verse 13:  Who is wise and understanding among you?  Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.  ( I will then go over Mathew: 11: verses 29 and 30 and remind the audience that Jesus said that He was meek and lowly of heart.  If He was meek, then we should seek to be meek.  When I think of being meek, I think of having an inner sense of calm and discipline inside me. 2.  Not all wisdom is profitable - I will read the commentary at the bottom of my Bible (Nelson Study Bible) and state that James wanted the people he was addressing to stop their petty differences and be reconciled one to the other.  Verse 16 state:  For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.  This type of wisdom is NOT what we should be seeking; 3.  Wisdom from above is what we should seek - But the wisdom that is from a move is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy (I believe the reason many people don't want to become Christians is because they see people that claim to be Christians live with hypocrisy in their lives).
