Lessons From the Psalms - Psalm 147

Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. Today we will go over Psalm 147. Psalm 147, like Psalm 146 begins and ends the psalm with the words Praise the Lord. Psalm 147 is an anonymous psalm, but it is obvious that the author has a very close relationship with his Heavenly Father. After reading this psalm I would like to highlight a few verses. Verse 3 tells us that God heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds (He wants to have a close relationship with everyone listening to this psalm today. Come to Him, and He will provide - and take care of you). Verse 4 tells us that He is such an intimate relationship with the universe that He even names each of the starts in the sky. Verse 5 talks about how great God is, and how understanding He is (God is all-knowing (we cannot and don't compare to God). Verse 6 reminds us that we should walk in humility -(the Bible tells us that God gives grace to the humble). My three takeaways from this psalm are the following:
1. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; His understanding is beyond measure.
2. The Lord lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked to the ground.
3. The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His steadfast love. (friends, we should have a Holy reverence for Almighty God).
