585. Bill & Judy's Monthly Ministry Update - (#16) - June 28, 2024

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill & Judy Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 28. Judy and I will both then go over the verse of this proverb which spoke to us today. We will then give a praise report. Last month we prayed that people who attended Charis Bible College with us would come visit us in our home in Florida. Well, today two people that we met by attending Charis Bible College visited our home in Florida! Not only did they visit us, but they agreed to share their testimony as well! Alfred is a 3rd year graduate of the Global Training Tract. Viorica graduated last year with me as a 2nd year Charis Bible College student. I will then give an update about my podcast. Today marks the end of my 27th month of doing this podcast.

[00:00:06] and Albeer Hills. In this podcast we will be exploring the book of Proverbs. Open and prayer. Father God, I thank you for anyone listening to this podcast today. I pray that you open their hearts to receive everything you have in store for them in this podcast.

[00:00:33] I ask this in Jesus name, Amen. This is Proverbs 28, beginning in verse 1. The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion. Because of the transgression of a land, many are its princes, but by a man understanding and knowledge, right will be prolonged.

[00:00:57] A poor man who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain which leads no food. Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but such as keep the law content with them. Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the Lord understand all.

[00:01:17] That is the poor who walks in his integrity, then one perverse in his ways, though he be rich. Whoever keeps the law is a discerning son, but a companion of glutton's shamed his father.

[00:01:33] One who increases his possessions by usery and extortion, gathers it for him, who will pity the poor. One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

[00:01:50] Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, he himself will fall into his own pit. But the blameless will inherit good. The rich man is wise in his own eyes, but the poor who has understanding searches him out.

[00:02:09] When the righteous rejoice, there is great glory, but when the wicked arise, men hide themselves. He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and for sex them will have mercy.

[00:02:25] Happy is the man who is always reverent, but he who harbours his heart will fall into calamity. Like a roaring lion and a charging bear is a wicked ruler of a poor people.

[00:02:40] A ruler who lacks understanding is a great oppressor, but he who hates covetousness will prolong his days. A man burdened with bloodshed will flee into a pit, let no one help him. Whoever walks blamelessly will be saved, but he who is perverse and his ways will suddenly fall.

[00:03:04] He who kills his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows for volatility will have poverty enough. A faithful man will abound with blessings, but he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.

[00:03:20] To show partiality is not good because for a piece of bread a man will train his breasts. A man with an evil eye hastens after riches and does not consider that poverty will come upon him.

[00:03:37] He who rebukes a man will find more favor afterward than he who flatters with the tongue. Whoever robs his father or his mother and says, it is no transgression. The same is companion to a destroyer.

[00:03:54] He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, but he who trusts in the Lord will be prospered. He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whoever walks wisely will be delivered.

[00:04:10] He who gives to the poor will not lack, but he who hides his eyes will have many curses. When the wicked arise, men hide themselves, but when they perish, the righteous increase. Well, Bill today which first seemed to speak to you.

[00:04:30] Well, you know, I'm kind of leaning towards verse 13 today and verse 13 says he who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and for sex them will have mercy.

[00:04:46] And in the book of James chapter 5, it tells us that we are to confess our sins one to another. And the first verse, the guy is not doing that. He's hiding his sins.

[00:05:00] I don't know whether it's he's embarrassed by what he did, but he's trying to hide them. And friends, my suggestion you is if you do sin, let people know about it. It's probably going to come out in the end. You're going to be found out anyway.

[00:05:18] So just fess up, say that you did it. It meant you made a mistake and move on. It's a lot easier to humble yourself than be embarrassed later on when people find the truth. Any verse 15 you today, huh?

[00:05:33] I know we've been reading about King Solomon and his son. Was it rainbow? Yeah, I believe it was. Anyway, he was, he saw the advice of the older men who had followed his father and they gave him good advice.

[00:05:51] And then he saw the advice of the young man who per his age and they gave him poor advice. And they told him to be harsh with the people and to oppress them. And I thought about this verse that 16, a ruler who likes understanding is a great oppressor.

[00:06:10] And I thought about that. I thought about that. Scripture that we've been reading how, how you know if you lack understanding. And you seek wisdom or seek advice from people who lack understanding. You can become a great oppressor.

[00:06:27] Yeah, you know, and the point I take away from that is that he didn't go with older people who tend to be wiser and get better advice. He went with people his own age.

[00:06:39] And of course people who are younger do not have as much experience and usually aren't going to have the wisdom that older people do. So friends, we have a praise report too, offer to you.

[00:06:53] And when we last met on the 31st of May, we asked for people who had come to Keras to come and visit our home. And we said that we would like to do that.

[00:07:05] And I actually gave an open invitation to anyone who had been too curious and who knew us and that they would be welcome and into our home. So if you would, huh, share what happened this week.

[00:07:21] Well, this week we got a text from a friend that we would sit by every day at Keras. And she said that she and her husband and son were going to be in Orlando. So we're not that far. So we offered them to come to our house.

[00:07:39] Actually, I think they may have wanted to meet but we really wanted them to come here and see where we live and everything going on in our area.

[00:07:48] Just I always like that because when you get an idea, you can picture people picture people like where they live and what their life is like instead of if you meet at a restaurant or something.

[00:08:00] You have no idea you know about their environment that they live in or their lives. So anyway, they were more than happy to come here. And we came and visited this is today.

[00:08:10] And it was really so sweet the whole whole time together and we did a podcast together and then we found out that actually we had been in NASA.

[00:08:20] We didn't realize if they were living in NASA but they are and we had been there three weeks ago and we could have seen them. But we didn't know. So now we know.

[00:08:31] Yeah, that was such a disappointment because we, you know, we run this cruise and we mentioned that on the last podcast is that we didn't know.

[00:08:37] And the podcast is that we had been on a cruise to Bimini and NASA in the Bahamas and we got to NASA at 8 o'clock in the morning. And we didn't have to be back on the boat until three o'clock that is seven hours.

[00:08:52] And so we would have had plenty of time to do exactly what they did over here today. So anyway, they ate lunch with us and we shared lunch and then you know I said well why don't we do a podcast together.

[00:09:05] And Vyorika, she listens to the podcast every day and she was you know, she was a little bit you know, cautious.

[00:09:14] But I mean a lot of people who do come on to share their testimony, a lot of people are little bit just a little nervous to start with, but you know she did really really well.

[00:09:25] And for those of you are interested that that will be coming up on August 27th. So that will be Alfred and Vyorika Bane, and that will be the first time of many times that they will be on in the future. And that's what I'm leaning towards.

[00:09:42] So anyway, if you would just share about some of the things that we did and you know your greatest takeaways from today, you know, meeting back up with them. Yeah, it was a sweet because we haven't had anybody.

[00:09:57] We don't have people from carousel live nearby and it was just you know really nice to remember the camaraderie we had and how we set every day with each other and sometimes she gave me words of encouragement and I to her.

[00:10:14] And I'm older than she is and she said she really likes having me in her life because I can sometimes give her feedback, not really telling her what to do.

[00:10:25] But just you know just an ear to listen to anything and I'm really helping that will keep in touch after this. I'm sure we will.

[00:10:36] But it was really nice and really nice that our son could come and he was able to go drive the golf cart, that was fun and just just been time talking about what is happening in their lives and what the Lord is doing.

[00:10:52] You know one of the things you know my biggest takeaways is when you have shared something like carous. We don't have conversations like a lot of people do because a lot of people if you have conversations with people that you're not all that intimate with.

[00:11:09] They'll talk about the weather they'll talk about sports and friends if you have been to carous Bible college with somebody else. We're going to be talking about the Lord and what is the Lord telling you and what are you doing right now.

[00:11:24] But you know when you go to carous you develop a depth in your personality and I just think it's just so nice to reconnect with people who have a common goal.

[00:11:36] God is talking with them. God is working through them and as we go through life together and watch each other grow in the Lord it really is something special. It is, it is, yes, truly so.

[00:11:51] We are definitely growing and that spiritual connectedness is really what it is that spiritual connectedness that we have with each other that you don't really find that with everybody. Everybody that you meet and that's what special about it.

[00:12:10] Well, what is going on with you as far as your podcast? Well, you know I don't really mention all that much what's going on with my podcast and I do want to take the time to thank anyone who comes on and listens to my daily podcast.

[00:12:29] And for those of you tuning in for the first time, this basically is what I do throughout the week. So Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I ordinarily have a regular teaching and Tuesdays is just testimony day. So someone will come on and they'll come and share their testimony.

[00:12:51] And for those people who are really kind of diehard fans and really want something every day on Saturday I offer a glimpse of what my other podcast is lessons from the songs. And on Sunday I have a reading of the King James Bible.

[00:13:10] So I do actually offer something every day if you are wanting to listen. And what's been going on is I'm kind of pleased to announce that I have now completed 500 chapters in the King James Bible and I've actually completed 36 of the 66 books in the Bible.

[00:13:34] So I have completed 16 in the Old Testament and 20 in the New Testament. But I wanted to give that update and what I want to do is some people, you know, maybe asking themselves, why are you reading the King James Bible?

[00:13:52] And I really would like everyone to listen to what I'm going to say next. Now some of you listening today may have some elderly parents or grandparents who would like to listen to the Bible or read it, but no longer have the ability to read.

[00:14:12] And I know there probably is someone right now listening to this podcast and that's the case. And friends, that's why I designated and started a YouTube channel. So it's one of my four playlists. So the four playlists are my regular teaching, which is wisdom today.

[00:14:32] That's and I read the proverb of the day and then I have a separate playlist for testimonies for Tuesday. I have a separate playlist for lessons from the Psalms and then I have reading of the King James Bible.

[00:14:47] So that's what's going on with me. Is there anything new that the Lord has been working and talking with you about that you'd like to share today? Well, yes, but did you want to tell them first that the reason you're reading the King James Bible? Okay.

[00:15:04] There's the forgot about that. You know, and that's a good point. And that's one of the things that they brought up our guest today is why are you reading the King James Bible?

[00:15:16] And you know, a couple people have mentioned to me that King James Bible is not my favorite translation and I'm going to say, nor is it mine. But most translations of the Bible are copyrighted.

[00:15:30] And being copyrighted, you don't have the right to read from that Bible and just read the entire Bible. You don't have that.

[00:15:42] So that is why I chose the King James Bible is because it's the only translation that I know of and I'm aware of that is not copyrighted and you have the ability to read it. All right.

[00:15:56] So, you know, I know it's not everybody's favorite and you know, as I'm reading through these names and that that was and this and this,

[00:16:04] I know it's a little bit sticky, but stick with me because I read slow enough so you should be able to grasp the content even if you don't like that particular translation. But anyway, thanks for rooming that up.

[00:16:18] Yeah, well one thing though is like the strongs concordance that I have in my esword, it's the trans, everywhere just broken down and that's based on the King James Bible.

[00:16:31] So, you know, it is I think, you know, the basic, the first Bible translation that was so widely accepted. You know, I think the King James Bible probably started around 1600 or something around there.

[00:16:46] It's definitely the earliest one, but if you would, you know, I'm glad you brought up these sort because if there was any serious students of the Bible and are really looking to learn more about the Bible.

[00:16:59] If you would go and tell people how they can learn more about the Bible. Well, I learned about this through Rick McFarland when we had a class with him and it was about being a minister and it was one of the tools that you could use to really

[00:17:15] further your studies and it's a very helpful, you can get it. It's an app that you can get it's called E sword, that's WLRD. And I just find it a great tool. You can read it a lot of different versions. You can download different versions.

[00:17:34] And I love the fact that every verse you can go to every single word. And it will tell you what that word means in the Greek or the Hebrew, and then it will tell you how many times it's in the Bible.

[00:17:48] I just, you know, just a lot of information which is really good. And I'm going to go ahead and give a little plug for Rick McFarland. And you guys can check him out on YouTube if you simply just enter in Rick McFarland is capital M small sea.

[00:18:07] Capital M. Farland. But friends, there's a lot of good information that Rick has available for you so I invite you to check that out. Oh, okay.

[00:18:20] Well, you asked me what the Lord was speaking to me about and we actually talked about this with our friends but I'll go ahead and mention it again. I think that the thing that I've been thinking about a lot lately is our authority.

[00:18:35] And the authority that we have and we haven't teacher Greg Fritz. And I get his emails and I got one this week and he has a book out that said, who died and made you God?

[00:18:47] And the whole book is about how Jesus died and he gave us the authority on earth to do what he did. And we had that authority and we just oftentimes we just don't live live it.

[00:19:00] We just let it go. We just don't really take our authority, take what he's given us in our health and our finances and whatever a family, whatever is going on in our world and our government whatever.

[00:19:16] You know, we just kind of don't we just let that slide by and maybe it's just feeling like we don't deserve it or maybe we're not good enough.

[00:19:28] But we have to remember that we're the righteousness of God in Christ and that he gave it to us and he told us to exercise this authority. So we need you to do it.

[00:19:38] You know, when I'm going to go ahead and give a little plug to Greg Fritz and friends if you Google Greg Fritz, you probably will have access to more great teaching.

[00:19:48] And what I want to do is just encourage people, you know, for some of you who may not be all that much in derating the Bible, you can get a lot of great teaching on your phone, a lot of great teaching.

[00:20:02] And there's nothing like hearing the word of God. I'm going to go to the Book of Romans chapter 10 verse 17 and it says, Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. And I would say hearing and hearing and hearing and hearing.

[00:20:22] And friends, you cannot hear too much of the word of God. He simply cannot. And what I'd like to do is go to the Gospel of Luke and right now in my regular daily teachings,

[00:20:36] I'm doing that in the last three weeks in and chapter nine of Luke we talked about Jesus sending out his 12 disciples. And later he set out 70 additional disciples and they had two missions.

[00:20:52] They had two things that he told him to do, preach the kingdom of God, which is basically repent and turn away from your sins. And the second thing is healing the people.

[00:21:05] And Jesus gave them the authority to do that and Jesus has given us the ability to do that. And I know some people feel uncomfortable with that, and they feel that it's not available to them today. But Jesus said in his word, he said,

[00:21:24] The things that I do, you can do also and greater things than these shall you do, because I go to the Father. Friends, we have that ability and authority inside us, because we have that same spirit that dwell in Jesus,

[00:21:46] the very same spirit that wasn't him is inside of us and we have the power to raise people from the dead spirit inside of us. And if you would, say a few things and close us in prayer.

[00:22:03] Well that's, that is a good word to think that we really do have that authority. That should bring a lot of hope to people. We need hope, we need hope in our world. And we need to ponder on these things, to chew on them, to read the word.

[00:22:20] Find out who we are in Christ, because we a lot of times we just don't know. We are just not familiar. We just don't read the Bible enough. So we need to get familiar with the Word of God and find out what He's given us,

[00:22:34] because He's given us at all. He gave it all. And if we don't take our authority and we don't do what He gave us, it's like we don't really honor Him, really. You know, and I'm going to go to one verse that Paul wrote,

[00:22:48] and I'm not sure exactly which letter to the church that He wrote, but he said this, it is no longer I who lives, but Christ lives in me. I want you to think about that because Paul, the apostle, got it.

[00:23:05] He understood who He was and the authority that He had. If there's anyone out there today that's never accepted Christ as your Savior, today's your day, just turn your life over to Him and say a simple prayer, like this.

[00:23:21] Father God, I thank you for sending Jesus into this world. Thank you that He died on the cross from my sins. He took the stripes on His back for my healing. He rose from the dead and that same resurrection power now can live in me.

[00:23:39] Thank you, Father. I ask you to forgive my sins and help me to live from this day forward for you in Jesus name, amen. Amen. Well, thanks, son. Always a pleasure. Always a joy. I always look forward to you coming on. I'm going to close with a blessing.

[00:23:58] Now, may the Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make us say, shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. Friends, please rejoin me on Monday as we further explore the wisdom today.
