Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 1. I will then key in on verses 8 & 9 - My son, hear the instruction of your father, And do not forsake the law of your mother; For they will be a graceful ornament on your head. Friends, in almost all cases your parents have your best interests at heart and will do all they can to instruct you properly and to give you advice to live a good life. This is Bill Kelley, and I am your host. I am beginning my 20th month of doing this podcast. The main point of emphasis on this podcast is that people acquire wisdom and live their life with integrity. We will continue our study on Job by looking at Chapter 7. Job is still speaking. After reading the entire chapter, I want to bring up three points that I'd like for everyone to consider:
1. We are to shun evil - Chapters 1 & 2 of Job tell us that Job feared God and shunned evil. Shunning evil would include seeking counsel from people who will lead us or tempt us to do evil. We should avoid these people at all costs.
2. Job speaks plainly with God. After losing everything Job has very little to look forward to. He is in despair & lets God know that he is suffering. He lays it all out for God to hear.
3. Job pleads with God. Job comes to the point where he asks God directly what it is that he has done? Why is God targeting him for persecution?
Call to action: Meditate on the plight of Job - that he has lost all of his material possession, all of his children, and now his health. And, for all intents and purposes, he has lost his wife as well. How would you react?
Suggested scripture reading: 1. reread the proverb of the day, Proverb 1; 2. Reread the chapter of the day, Job, Chapter 7.
